I remember this movie when it came out as I was a kid back then and I remember liking it. I saw the movie recently and I came to the conclusion that the movie is a steaming pile of bird ****.
I was reading more about the movie recently and I saw that the movie was critically panned (except for kid reviews that gave it positive reviews) and Leave it to Beaver fans were disappointed with this.
So, how did you all like the movie? haha
OH Nuts!

I may be in the minority but I liked it. Of course I like the series better
The movie remakes are often lemons; I thought the one for Bewitched was horrible.

I enjoyed the Leave it to Beaver movie--as big screen adaptations go, it was one of the more enjoyables ones.
The best one to me is still The Brady Bunch Movie :D

i think the reason we all dont like it is because we just can't accept anybody else being the beave but for jerry mathers, and without our barbara billinglsey as june and hugh beaumont as ward, things just dont seem to fall in the right spot... i just dont like barbara playing aunt martha... haha, but it was a great thing for me when i was a kid and first saw it too... but now that i know the whole series and have come to love june and ward.... especially their chemistry!!

I didn't hate it. But it felt like it was made by people who weren't fans of the series, like it was made by casual viewers of the show- they probably looked up popular episodes and only watched those.
Where was Whitey? Where was Gus the Fireman?
Ward was ridiculous, he didn't loose his temper like that, and he wasn't that much into football. The kids that played Eddie, Larry, and Lumpy were horrible.
The Brady Bunch Movie is a good example of how to poke fun at a series and stay true to it at the same time.

When you try to modernize a TV classic from another era,it loses any appeal to the original audience. To this day I have never watched this movie because I know I will be disappointed. Not saying it's a bad movie for all.I just don't get why they make movies based on old TV shows. The kids of today don't have any clue about the old shoes. The ones who watched the original hate the remakes. It dosen't make sense. That's why they usually bomb out at the box office.
I interviewed Barbara Billingsley and Tony Dow for a book I wrote last year and they both hated the movie.
Barbara played Aunt Martha, and said the guy that directed it had never even seen the show, and kept saying, "We don't need this... Let's cut this part out.." and Tony Dow wouldn't be in it, and said they did it set in the 90's with guys with baggy pants, etc. and it really lost its original charm.

I thought it was horrible! How dare they modernize it! If they wanted to create a classic show, they should have at least used the same era!
