View Full Version : Wal-Mart sues woman with severe brain damage!
Apparently to recoup the money their insurance paid out. Greedy %$@#!!!
Here's a link to the story on CNN.... http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/25/walmart.insurance.battle/
BOYCOTT WAL-MART!
I am Roboto 03-29-2008, 09:07 AM I saw this on FOXNEWS the other day. Wal-Mart is within its legal rights but I personally think they should have let it be and am surprised they didn't - just from a PR perspective you'd think it'd be a small price to pay. Truly is a sad story.
OH Nuts! 03-29-2008, 09:35 AM Disgusted absolutely disgusting. What a horrible store. And this nonsense that they couldn't make an exception. What horses**t. Hope people picket Walmart. That clause shouldn't be there or should be capped to a sm. % like 10-20%.
Corolla 03-29-2008, 10:27 AM *yawn* I wouldn't expect anything more from Wal-Mart.
waichingliu81 03-29-2008, 11:38 AM considering how big they are, i am probably not that surprised that they have done this. just goes to show that they are more interested in earning more money than they do of its customers and its people.
hope more people would boycott wal-mart and stop going to its stores
Scoobiedoo30 03-29-2008, 11:39 AM my brother told me about this The Women was in a Car Accident
The company made 90 BILLION dollars last quarter (according to the article) and they're suing these poor people?
What a greedy company.
Very sad.
InspectorExstead 03-29-2008, 02:10 PM how sad. with all the money they're making, they need to sue this woman? that's horrible. so horrible.
i don't shop at walmart and i hope more people boycott the store as well.

I agree with what you said. From a PR standpoint it would be the right thing to do but if they do it for one emplyee then they would have to do it for all. Too bad they didn't know about the clause in the medical insurance staement. Maybe they could have gotten the reward worded where it was given to her husband so that Walmart couldn't have gotten any of it.
vtunie 03-29-2008, 02:32 PM Oh goody. Now we can add another reason to hate our favorite retailer, as we continue to stock up on cheap garbage that will fall apart in a few months. But, oh, the savings!
junecleaver 03-29-2008, 03:12 PM  Absolutely horrible. Just one of the thousands of reasons to stop shopping there. Wal-fart is just a greedy ass "business" trying to outnumber everything (pretty soon, we will have Wal-Mart hospitals and Wal-Mart everything) and to this day my shopping is done at Target (i respect them more because they actually PAY their employees, and if i have to pay extra to benefit their employees, i am glad to) and other stores. I'm glad to see there are others who despise the chain. Maybe one day everyone will stop shopping there and the store will only be a thing of the past.

LOL! Wal-Mart Hospital. "Save money, live through the night, but if you get a settlement, you'll pay dearly!"
I prefer Target and K-MART! How can we forget big blue! I don't care how lousy they seem to be, anythings better than Wal-Mart! Sheesh, Flea Market even!

 there is an asda where i live as well as sainsburys, but unfortunately my family choose to shop there cos' the stuff they sell there is cheap compared to sainsbury's. there's a tesco a couple of miles further, but we cannot be arsed to go there
LuLu Rogers 03-29-2008, 06:00 PM As a former Walmart Employee, I can honestly say that this company is extremely greedy.
I feel for this woman, I know what it's like to lose a family member in Iraq, it's a terrible thing to deal with on it's own, I couldn't imagine dealing with that along with her other problems. ohno:
Very sad. :(
coffield3 03-29-2008, 06:01 PM I shop at Morrisons or my local deli. I get bits and bobs from asda (wallmart)
Janice 03-29-2008, 11:19 PM It's a sad story, no doubt, and I agree that it would be good idea from a PR perspective. Like someone posted though, if you make an exception for one, you have to make it for all. Looks like the poor woman's lawyer was greedy as well. She was awarded a million, and was left with 400 grand. Greed all around.
Hollow 03-30-2008, 12:34 AM lolz. i can't boycott wal*mart, it's the only place around here where i can get most things. never had a problem with it anyway.
PZelda 03-30-2008, 03:41 AM Screw Walmart. I don't even shop there. I like Target enough that I *gasp* WORK there! And love it! OH THE HORRORS! ;)
