View Full Version : Video of Lucy Winning an Emmy BJJ 03-26-2008, 10:42 PM This is a link where you can see Lucille Ball winning an Emmy and make her acceptance speech: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SwlAmirbgLQ SPLAIN 03-27-2008, 09:24 AM I have that show on DVD and even remember seeing it LIVE when it happened, both the show and her winning that Emmy and i don't care how many times i see it, i enjoy it every single time, it was such a pleasant surprise and she was so geuinely pleased as the audience was too. Thanks for posting that. SPLAIN 03-27-2008, 03:27 PM She won three other times, the first one is the one where she had just had the baby. The next time she was not there, so Madelyn accepted for her, sponsor conflict. Then it was THIS one and the following year again but this time she wore something more fancy and she was prepared for that one. Then she received the Governor's award a few months after she passed away. She got 13 nominations in all and was cheated out of one for Stone Pillow among a few others. On the ILL BOxed set, bonus disc, you see her the year the show won and Viv got one but Lucy lost, but Lucy still jumps for joy at Viv's win and the show one also. I've seen the picture of her holding that Emmy but I don't think I've ever seen that clip. Thanks for posting that. You mean you have the Merv show on DVD, or the Emmy broadcast? This clip was part 11 of a Merv episode. It was a very interesting show, especially the part where she's talking about her singing voice in MAME. Oh, and I agree about Stone Pillow. She most definitely deserved an Emmy nod for that wonderful performance. The script was somewhat predictable, but her performance was brilliant. SPLAIN 03-28-2008, 09:26 AM I saw the Emmy show when it aired originally and yes, i have the Merv show complete, one of the best interviews she ever did. |
