LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Elizabeth Banks is going from the world of adult films to the White House.

The actress, who recently wrapped shooting Kevin Smith's comedy "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," is in final negotiations to portray first lady Laura Bush in "W," Oliver Stone's biopic on the life and presidency of George W. Bush.

Josh Brolin ("No Country For Old Men") already is on board to play the president. Shooting begins in late April in Shreveport, La.

Stone, who wrote the screenplay with his "Wall Street" collaborator Stanley Weiser, has said he plans to make "a fair, true portrait" of Bush, focusing on such areas as his relationship with his father, President George H.W. Bush, his wild youth, and his conversion to Christianity.

Banks, 34, starred in the three "Spider-Man" films, "Seabiscuit" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."

Yeah, she's a dead ringer for Laura Bush.

I guess Scarlett Johannson wasn't available, Oliver?

Make Banks a brunette, have her done up in Laura's style, and she'll make a good young Laura Bush. When she was younger, Laura was an extremely pretty woman. Even today at 60, she's very attractive. She's very feminine looking, works out daily, and keeps herself looking great.

^ I agree. Laura is beautiful. She carries herself with grace and class. As far as looks I think Elizabeth Banks looks a great deal like a younger Laura.

Don't get me wrong ladies, I think Laura Bush is a beautiful woman. I think Stone's casting choice is a bit off.

I love Elizabeth Banks, and i think she's a pretty darn good actress, but i don't think she's Laura Bush.

Director Oliver Stone has set James Cromwell to play George Herbert Walker Bush and Ellen Burstyn to play former first lady Barbara Bush in "W," a drama about the formative years of their son, President George W. Bush.
Josh Brolin is playing the title character, and Elizabeth Banks will play first lady Laura Bush.

Stone will direct from a script by his “Wall Street” co-writer Stanley Weiser. Moritz Borman is producing with Bill Block and Jon Kilik.

Block's QED International is financing the film, which will begin shooting Shreveport, La., at the end of April.

Cromwell recently made another fact-based foray in a film about an iconic political figure: He played Prince Philip alongside Helen Mirren in "The Queen."

Stone was calling the project "Bush" when he began showing it to buyers (Daily Variety, Jan. 21), but the filmmakers are now calling it "W." The film is expected to be ready for distribution possibly by the November presidential elections and certainly before Bush leaves the White House in January.

Great.. James 'Commie' Cromwell as Bush in an Ollie Stone film on Bush? Leave it to Hollywood to still give millions to this idiot Stone, after so many cr@pola movies, just as long as he is politically correct side they hand out the bucks.

Their eyes are very similiar. If they tone down Elizabeth's hotness, if that's possible, I think it will work. As beautiful as Laura is and was, she was never one to strut her stuff, at least not in public, lol. I'm not seeing Josh Brolin as George Bush, but those make-up departments can work wonders. Speaking of Brolin, he's in everything these days.

What's wromg with Cromwell? Always like him in movies. Haven't heard any of his politics though. Am I missing something?

A little off topic, but I'm reading a book on President Bushes and First Lady Laura Bushes life. Very interesting.
Anyway, Elizabeth Banks does look like Laura. I say good casting choice.
