I was born and raised in NC so I guess that qualifies me as being a hick. In my entire 43 years of life, I have never known anyone from this state that has dined on snails and brains. :rolleyes:

The worst thing that I can think of is being an out of touch city slicker who is obviously jealous of our way of life or has watched Deliverance way too many times.

They're not quite "jealous", but don't understand us rural folk and our "bizzare" ways, and they make fun to help convince themselves that they are, indeed, superior.

I myself was making reference to a rather comical scene in the episode "Andy and Barney in the Big City", in which Andy says (in response to Barney, while trying to decide what to order in the hotel restaurant from a menu written in French), "Well Barney, there are worse things than being a plain hick, like being a hungry one." But Barney, being too proud to ask the waiter what those fancy French words mean, and deciding instead to just point at something on the menu, ends up ordering SNAILS and BRAINS. :lol:
