View Full Version : The cast of Friday the 13th complete Lenseing in Austin, Texas
snowcreature23 03-25-2008, 03:45 PM Announced in The Hollywood Reporter - the New Friday gets its lead. So Jason never ended up in Supernatural, but the Supernatural guy ends up in Friday The 13th! Gotta love that.
Jared Padalecki is in final negotiations to star in the remake of "Friday the 13th" that Platinum Dunes is producing for New Line and Paramount.
Marcus Nispel is directing from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing.
Paramount released the original "Friday" in 1980, introducing horror icon Jason with a brief appearance. The remake will focus on the serial killer, who will wear his now-iconic hockey mask. Padalecki will play the lead, who investigates what happened up at Crystal Lake.
Cale Boyter and Guy Stodel are overseeing for New Line. A release is planned for -- what else? -- Friday, Feb. 13, 2009.
Padalecki stars as Sam Winchester on the CW's "Supernatural," and his film credits include "House of Wax" and "Cry Wolf." He next appears as Thomas Kinkade alongside Peter O'Toole and Marcia Gay Harden in Lionsgate's "Home for the Holidays," slated for a December release and based on the life of the artist and his painting "The Christmas Cottage."
Padalecki is represented by Artistry Management, CAA and attorney Michael Fuller.

Here's the casting description for Jason as posted by BD. No, I don't know who to contact!
JASON VOORHEES: Caucasian, fair complexion, Late 20's, Early 30's, stunt man. He is thin, lean, and cut from living off the land and residing in the forest around Crystal Lake...
YOUNG JASON VOORHEES: Caucasian, fair complexion, older, smaller, kid to play 9 or 10 years of age..
Dean Winchester 03-25-2008, 04:00 PM awwwww, Brandon (Friendsfan) is NOT going to like the mock-up throat-slash picture of Jared
I admit, I was opposed to the idea of a remake, but I think Padalecki could pull it off, he has enough "genre" clout thanks to Supernatural that he could pull horror/sci-fi fans into the cinemas to see it. Of course, that is probably what they were thinking casting him.
^ Holy Cow! lol!
I'd definitely check this movie out.

cablejockey 04-06-2008, 12:23 PM I am hoping this doesnt mean that Supernatural has bitten the dust! I heard it may be cancelled.

LATEST NEWS
4.19.08
I've added a few new names to the cast. Danielle Panabaker plays the adventurous and athletic girlfriend of Travis van Winkle's character, who is the "rich alpha-male type" that gathers the group together. Aaron Yoo plays "Chumbler", a quirky guy who has a "tendency to wear his attraction to pretty girls on his sleeve." Jonathan Sadowski plays the techie that knows Crystal Lake's history. Sounds like your standard group of victims to me.
3.31.08
Stunt man Derek Mears is supposedly in talks to play the new Jason Voorhees. Since there's no official confirmation on this, we'll have to treat it as a rumor, but either way, it seems that he's currently the likely candidate.
3.23.08
The CW's Supernatural star Jared Padalecki is the first actor set to star in the film. He will play the lead, who investigates what happened at Crystal Lake.
11.16.07
TCM remake director Marcus Nispel will helm this feature, with a February '09 theatrical release date set, according to CHUD. Filming is said to begin sometime early next year.
9.18.07
Word has come in over at STYD that the studio is aiming to finally begin filming early next year, while a couple new writers by the name of Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, will tackle the script. No word if Jonathan Liebesman is still attached as director.
1.11.07
It appears that the problem with the rights has been resolved and the film will finally get rolling sometime this year. New Line and Paramount will partner up for the project.
8.12.06
Director Jonathan Liebesman gave Fango an update on the project, where he revealed that he's heading back to the studio to pitch his take on the series, with hopes to get production started sometime later this year.
5.18.06
Various sources incidicate that the film's production is put "on hold" to straighten out a few things, mostly issues lying with the rights to the series.
2.24.06
With the project on the fast-track Platinum Dunes is keepin' it in the family by setting Jonathan Liebesman to direct, who also worked on TCM: The Beginning for them.
2.16.06
Platinum Dunes (Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) is on board to produce the film, with Mark Wheaton (The Messengers) scripting. Producer Brad Fuller spoke about the film to Fango, where he revealed various details on what fans can expect. In it he states that he's not sure whether it's going to be a prequel or a remake, but from the sounds of it, it'll be a "re-imagining", which is a smart term for a "remake", but instead of using the same story and formula it goes in another direction. Fuller also states that it doesn't take place after the events of Jason X or Freddy vs. Jason, and adds that Jason will be wearing the hockey mask and that the film will have its own distinct story, but stay true to some of the old things from the series. Lastly, he says how the estimated October 13th release date seems unlikely since the project would have be rushed and the script nor a director have even been set yet. From the sounds of it, this will be an updated F13 film that ignores the previous films; detailing more of the origins of Jason and possibly lead the series into a new direction. This is just my guess since that's what the Platinum Dunes people did with the TCM remake.

Well, based on the cast and the new characters, I feel safe in saying this is without a doubt going to be a piece of crap.

Who CARES if Kane Hodder is in this!!! Why does it matter, the ****ing lump of **** doesn't talk, doesn't have a certain walk, and doesn't have any odd and inventive ways of killing. Why do we NEED Kane Hodder, why does it matter?!!! There's nothing going to be different about the character so why does it matter who's behind the mask when whoever does play Jason will have the same material to work with. There's nothing unique about Jason, there's nothing creative, he's just here to create cheep thrills and panhandle everyone out of their hard earned money.
Who cares you plays Jason!!! It's just going to be the same thing anyway!!!

Willa Ford has been added to the Cast. She is known for her music success as the "bad girl of pop"... she was also on 'dancing with the stars" and has posed for "playboy".

The above mentioned Derick Mears is going to be Jason in the remake of Friday the 13th.

Cattleman1459, I get where your coming from when you say that it is the movie execs faults for what goes down in the script but the dialogue, the scenes, the vision of the show rest solely upon the writers. Their as much to blame as the execs because they don't even TRY to write a good script and if they actually do the execs always tell them to hurry up...but they do have creative license as to the dialogue and such and so most movies suck because the writers don't care, are on a tight schedule for writing, or if they hate the idea and just want to get the script over with so that their part is done...It's just as much as their fault as it is the directors and the execs
Lil A's Mom, JASON IS JUST A STICK WHO CAN KILL!!! THERE'S NOTHING HUMAN ABOUT HIM!!! THERE'S NOTHING RECOGNIZABLE ABOUT HIM, SO WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE KANE HODDER?!!! THE KILLER HAS NO LINES, NO EMOTIONS, YOU COULD GET ****ING CARROT TOP TO PLAY HIM AND THE CHARACTER WOULDN'T SUFFER ONE BIT...YA KNOW WHY? BECUASE THEIR IS NO CHARACTER, jASON IS JUST A ******...THERE'S NOTHING ORIGINAL ABOUT HIM!!!
FREDDY ATLEAST HAS A VOICE!!! MICHEAL AT LEAST HAS SOME MYSTERY SURROUNDING HIM, BUT WE'VE SEEN ALL THAT WE CAN SEE OF JASON, WE KNOW WHO AND WHAT HE IS, SO WHY DOES IT MATTER WHO PLAYS THE PART?!!!

Nana Visitor (Babysitter Wanted) has been cast as the legendary Pamela Voorhees in Platinum Dunes' Friday the 13, which is currently lensing in Austin, Texas for release on Friday, February 13, 2009, according to Screen Geeks. She apparently won’t be in the film for long, but she has had a mold made of her head, the website reports. She joins Jared Padalecki, Derek Mears, Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Aaron Yoo, Travis Van Winkle, Willa Ford, Nick Mennell and Jonathan Sadowski. The remake will focus on Jason Voorhees -- who will wear the mask and kill -- and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake.
