Was it mentioned on the episode that Mrs. Garrett was gone for good? I know a few episodes prior, Charlotte's non-appearance (I think it was the Thanksgiving Crossover) was explained as "Mrs. G is away helping out at Kimberly's school", but I don't ever recall them mentioning her as been gone for good.

FWIW, Kimberly was supposedly a student at Eastland, but we never saw her on FOL (other than "Rough Housing") and she seemed to be home A LOT. At one point, didn't Kimberly transfer to a regular NYC high school?

I also found it odd that the kimberly character never made a guest appearance on FOL alone like Arnold and Wills did-lol

why in the hell would Willis be a guest on FOL? That was one crossover that never made sense

I know, it was because of the Kimberly character was the reason for the Facts of Life, right?
Wouldn't it have made more sense to put Kmberly on the Facts of Life considering she went to the school?

Exactly, it was because of her that entire FOL thing started-lol

And if it's a boarding school, why wouldn't she be living there, and not at the Drummond penthouse?

And also how would Blair and Natalie be at the Penthouse in Manhattan all the way from the school in suburban NY?-lol i take it they were on the subway????

Perhaps Peekskill wasn't/isn't that far off from NYC? I know when on FOL, whenever the girls were taking a trip into NYC, they always mention going by train.

But the point is, why didn't we see Kimberly at least do a cameo on FOL? If Blair, Natalie, and Tootie could make guest appearances on DS, why not the reverse? Of course, as time went on, the DS/FOL connection would disappear altogether.

I know we never saw Kimberly at all on FOL just Arnold and Wills-lol And i will never understand why Willis would make a guest appearance by himself on FOL. That may have been the oddest crossover in Sitcom history

When did these actors find the time to do crossovers? When their own show wasn't taping an episode or something?

Not sure but remember Tootie replaced Arnold on DS at the start of season 4?-lol He was out due to contract issues and Tootie was on like 5 or 6 eps until he came back-lol Not sure why she was chosen for a replacement for Arnold

I always wanted to see Arnold and Tootie in the same scene but she seemed like she interacted more with WILLIS and KIMBERLY. She never had to much interaction with the Arnold character

It's simply cross-promotion, nothing more. Don't dig too deep here, the two shows weren't trying to do anything of biblical proportions here! Just a way to remind the viewing audiences to watch the other show too. Just like when Ray Romano, Kevin James, and Bill Cosby were all sitting next to each other in Becker's office in an episode of BECKER. That didn't make much sense either (not that I've ever seen it--- just heard of the scenario).

Mrs. Garrett was slowly phased out of the show VERY early on in season two. As a matter of fact, the last episode to ever revolve around her was called "Mrs. Garrett's Romance," the fourth aired episode of the season! After that, she was rarely seen, and when she was, it was only for about 30 seconds a show. I felt DS lacked a little something when Mrs. Garrett left; I found myself enjoying season one alot more than season two after I bought and watched the show's DVDs. She was like the heart of the penthouse in my opinion. She always had a "snappy answer", as Natalie from THE FACTS OF LIFE said in "Starstruck." And she was always there in the first season when there was a problem. Remember when she cheered up Arnold in his fort in a first season episode? That's one of my all-time favorite Mrs. Garrett moments, actually. Adelaide was first introduced though in "The Election." That means that the gang was virtually house-keeper free for about 2 months (9 episodes). But like I said, she seemed to drift in and out up to that episode, when she was pretty much written out of the show all-together (albeit very subtly).

I understand the cross promotion thing but it was just dd for Willis to be on a show with a bunch of Girls. You would think Kimberly would be on the show before Willis.

Well she had some interaction with Arnold for FOL "The New Girl" part 1, but she kinda dissed him there. Then when she came back to DS for the bank robbery two parter, all of sudden she had a better attitude.

Now in the beginning of the series, Kimberly spent the week at boarding school and then came home on the weekends.

Season two: Kimberly would take the train to Peekskill or Daddy's Limo and then came back into New York. To commute like this is very common.

Solomon: Remember that Blair and Natalie were not the only ones that dropped in at the Drummond household. Cindy, Molly along with Tootie and Natalie dropped in a season before that and had that fued with Willis' friends.

I take it that Molly lived in NY somewhere because the girls were supposed to sleep over at Molly's house but then something happened and Kimberly told the girls that they could sleep at her house.

Also Kimberly tells the boys that she and her friends need the kitchen make food for parents week at Eastland "next week". Tootie says that her father the lawyer (or judge) will be speaking at the school. When you watch season one of "Facts", you see the episode in which Tootie's father makes his appearance and does not want Mrs. Garrett around her. I thought that was coolness. :D But where the heck was Kimberly and Mr. D? I am thinking that they left before the beginning of the scene. LOL.

Dana's behavior may have been a reason why she never appeared on the Facts of Life more often.
