Jackson Boys Broke While Jackson Girls Lead Successful Lives

The New York Daily News published a story on Sunday with the supposed current activities of the members of the Jackson brood. The information is based on their interviews with three of the family members, two relatives and a current and a former employee.

It seems there is a very even split in the family, with the men being pretty much broke and working odd jobs while the women have gone on to lead very successful lives (yes, even LaToya).


Jackie Jackson (56) - Had an internet clothing business failed and was not successful in music production. He now oversees his son, Siggy's rap career. Lives in the family home.

Tito Jackson (55) - Fronts a blues and jazz band that plays for $500 to $1,500 a night.

Jermaine Jackson (54) - Lives between his girlfriend's home and his family home.

Marlon Jackson (51) - Stocks shelves at a Vons Supermarket in San Diego and, at one time, had his family living in an extended stay hotel.

Michael Jackson (49) - His monetary problems have been well publicized lately with the possible foreclosure on Neverland Ranch. Michael has been working on a new album with will.i.am and recently released the very successful 25th anniversary version of Thriller, but remains in bad monetary straits.

Randy Jackson (46) - Works a number of different jobs, including fixing cars in a friend's L.A. garage. Lives in the family home.
On the girl's side:

Rebbie Jackson (57) - Has been married for 35 years to a successful businessman. They have a mansion in Las Vegas.

LaToya Jackson (52) - Has very little contact with the family since Michael's molestation trial. She lives and works in Europe and is reported to be a millionaire on her own, not counting her very rich boyfriend.

Janet Jackson (41) - Even with less than stellar sales on her last couple of albums, she is reportedly worth $150 million. She purchased a home for her mother in Las Vegas in anticipation of the losing of the family's L.A. home to foreclosure.

I didn't know La Toya had another falling out with her family after the trial. I know they got close again after the divorce from Jack Gordon

god, that is just soooo wrong. You toured the world and sold millions of albums (granted, Michael was always in the forefront, but still...), and now you are being depended on making sure that there's enough Yoplait yogurt on the shelf? That is so wrong and sad, surely his family could help him out a little.

You know, that is what is going through my mind right now. I know when I have had tough times, my family has been there for me. I never took advantage of that, but I know I can depend on my sister and her family to be there for me...ALWAYS. The Jacksons having financial problems just boggles my mind. Bad decisions, no doubt. How some members have millions and the rest are having a hard time, why doesn't someone help out a little?

Maybe that is how their family is, TO EACH HIS OWN AND TO HELL WITH YOU. :eek: I don't know, just a few weeks ago I seen the entire Osmond Family on Oprah and not one dud in the entire family. Each child is successful in their own right, they each have a home and a healthy and beautiful family. To me, the Osmonds are the epitomy of a successful, famous musical family. His lavish shopping sprees are well-known, but you'd think, maybe instead of spending $100,000 in one sitting at an antique shop, why not help Marlon out with some of his troubles, considering he's stocking shelves at a grocery store, which is not exactly what he probably figured he'd be doing in 2008.

You'd think so right? How true that is, why not help out your brother rather than spend money on material things? How many vases or antiques do you need?

The only one that is considered normal and had a long lasting marriage since she was a teen was Rebbie Jackson. She is pretty much out of the picture in the late 90s. I guess she is doing well, considering we don't here much of her. If you want to put the blame on somebody, blame it on Joe. I swear, he scarred those boys for life and look what they turned out to be. Joe must be laughing his way to the bank, getting all the money from publicity that he loves. That man is a media whore and he knows it. Michael is the worst, but Joe is the worst offender, right next to the mother. Joe created them, but, boy, he beat those boys to a pulp. There was no love between father and son. Joe never taught them love at all. All he wanted was respect! Not love. It was work, work, work! Or I'll beat you silly, you twerps! Tease Michael. Get groupies, my sons. Concubines are fine! Daddy can play hookie while Mommy is at church. Joe would always be a sicko with a twisted mind.

She was the only Jackson to come out and say that it's not acceptable for Michael to be having sleepovers with kids, the only Jackson to say that Joseph's treatment of her and her siblings is not "good parenting", etc....

If anything came out of that horrid marriage of LaToya's to Jack Gordon, was the fact he forced her to come out and say that Michael was sleeping with young children and their father was abusive. I don't condone what that stupid jerk did to LaToya and how he brainwashed her and used her and abused her, but she did come out and say what was suspected all along abt Joe's treatment of his kids. I feel the other claims LaToya made are false, such as the molestation/rape allegations towards her and her sisters. I believe Jack Gordon had LaToya exaggerate the abuse claims, nonetheless, there was abuse and continues to be mental abuse to some degree by him over his children.

No doubt, Joe Jackson's treatment of his children and practically forcing them to be in the limelight at such young ages, shaped their mentality and plays a part in what they do now as adults. It is obvious the boys of the Jackson family have not learned very much other than to perform.

Which is what happens when reality becomes real and you realize life is hard. The Jacksons don't help one another. They help themselves. If one takes a fall, so be it. It's their fault. Not ours, as the Jacksons would say.

How could the parents be in such bad financial shape to lose their home?

And why does the article say that Janet bought her mother a home in Vegas? Is Joe not going with her?

88survivor i agree with what you said. Joe has mentally and physically scarred his boys for life. I don't know how Rebbie feels about him but i know that Latoya and Janet don't like how he treated them when they were kids. Janet spoke about Joe recently in Ebony magazine and she said she didn't like the way he cheated on Katherine with other women. That is so sad what The Jacksons are doing now for job careers. How is it that Jermaine, Jackie, Randy are living with their parents as old as they are? They should have their own homes. I wonder where Marlon and Tito are living. That's so sad Marlon is stocking grocery products at a grocery store. Michael has really been the biggest disappointment in the family to me. He's weird and he's terrible at making wise decisions with his money. I remember in Chris Rock's I Think I Love My Wife movie, Chris's wife and Chris were having a conversation about Michael Jackson with ESPN's NBA analyst Stephen A Smith and his wife at a restaurant. Chris's wife said i blame Joe LOL. Chris said the first 15 years of your life is your childhood. Michael Jackson is almost 50. How many sliding boards does this nig*a need? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Chris should've said Michael is a white man instead of a black man LOL.

Tito had a home here in my city. I don't know if he still lives here. It is not cheap to live here but then again, it is expensive to live in So. California.

Obviously if some of the sons live at home it is because they can't afford a home by not working or having steady work.

I can't imagine with their vast knowledge of music, producing, etc. they never had a production company or work BEHIND the music (not with your kids either).

They used to produce their music when they left Motown so you're right that they should have some knowledge about producing. The Jacksons obviously didn't save their money when they were popular back in the day. If they had saved their money, they would be good financially. I don't like how Joe forced them into doing music when they were kids. He should've let them decide what they wanted to be when they got older. Maybe Michael wouldn't have been weird if he had a childhood. Joe and Katherine also shouldn't have had so many kids LOL. Joe lost his job at a factory in Indiana when the Jacksons were kids so i guess that's why he figured he was gonna force them into doing music so he could live off of them if they became successful LOL. That's not funny but that's how i look at it. Katherine could've had a job if they hadn't had a lot of kids. Back in those days, it was tough for blacks financially because jobs back then didn't pay a lot of money especially factory jobs. I think Katherine didn't have a high education. She didn't finish high school i think. I remember reading that somewhere. I wonder if Joe finished high school and went on to college.

How prophetic that post is - and true. Besides Rebbie, the only Jackson sibling not to divorce is Marlon. He and his wife have been married since 1975, and became grandparents for the first time not too long ago.

I do wonder what LaToya does for a living. I also heard somewhere that Rebbie does a lot of background vocal work and is a vocal teacher for wealthy kids.

Plus Rebbie is the wife of a very successful businessman, so she's done very well for herself. Not to mention Michael wrote and produced a hit song for Rebbie in the 80s called "Centipede". LaToya is a bigger music star overseas than she is here - plus she must have invested well if she is a millionaire in her own right.
