She said that because on the Jeffersons his character was MAD ALL THE TIME and talking real bad about the Willises but on AMEN he was more of pleasant character and more likable,

He was grumpier at times on the Jeffersons, but I don't think that made him funnier in either series. He was funny as hell on both shows. He just played a slightly different character, a character that happened to have some personality of George Jefferson.

And thank goodness for Sherman to have that rare opportunity of having two hit sitcoms.

 And you play her well. ;)

Sherman was indeed lucky to have two great hit shows. What I find amazing, is that Sherman is nothing like those two characters, yet those two characters are almost similar. The only difference is that George was more mean and loud. Deacon Frye was just LOUD. Deacon couldn't be mean because he was playing a Deacon.

do you think there was subtle difference between the two characters like there was between Lucy Ricardo/Lucy Carmichael/Lucy Carter?

Yes, there was. Subtle is the word to describe it too. Like I said above, George was mean and loud and Deacon was just loud, when it came to trying to get a point across.

Also, Deacon wasn't abt money unless it had to do with the church. George was always trying to make more money for personal and business reasons.

Deacon of course didn't call people names simply because of their skin color, such as honkey.

Well the Deacon was all about money, he was a greedy man just like George.

I think the difference between the two Characters are...

The Deacon was sneaky and women hungry (kinda)

George was a hot head and a bigot  But in all they were almost the same Character just on different shows.

Both shows were about the same to me. The only difference is that Amen relied more on physical comedy and Jeffersons used more character vs. character comedy. I liked the Jeffersons more as I could not stand whiny and uncombed hair Thelma.
