This is off topic, but I know many of us UM fans were also fans of Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World. Sir Clarke died today. He was 90 years old. Thanks for the wonder you inspired, Arthur!

Although not strictly O/T because he did an excellent tv series in the 1980's called Mysterious World which looked at all maneer of strange phenomena from Ghosts and UFO'S to Past Lives and Psychic Powers before UM came along.

Oh man, I had forgotten all about that show! I used to watch the reruns on the Discovery Channel in the early nineties.

I always liked Arthur C. Clarke. The show would present all sorts of mysterious topics and Clarke would appear at the end to basically surmise the skeptical point of view that these claims of paranormal/supernatural activity were always extraordinary and often dubious, and to remind the viewer that the burden of proof really lies with those making the claims.

Yep, he really just added his name value to the show as a female narrated and the investigtions were mostly done by others, he would really just link the segments and then at the end basically debunk everything.

Actually, I think it's mischaracterizing the show to say that he would just debunk everything at the end, but I do agree that he approached the stories with skepticism. In the show he explains his classification of mysteries (1st, 2nd and 3rd kind). You can find episodes of ACC's Mysterious World online and that's all I will say about that.

When I was a kid, my little brother and I would beg my mom to rent ACC's episodes from the video store. Screw Disney movies. We wanted mystery!
