dawsongirl 03-18-2008, 10:18 PM Stupid.
But they could call it Butt City and it would still be better than Best Buy. Gawd...the people at Best Buy are so stupid!

That's what I hate about Best Buy. It sucks too because they have awesome selection when it comes to DVDs.
Ireneparalegal 03-18-2008, 10:51 PM Maybe the store has new ownership, therefore, a name change is due.
dawsongirl 03-18-2008, 11:59 PM I know. Fortunately you don't have to ask the employees questions when buying DVDs though. But don't ask them computer questions.

Isn't it funny how some people are never prepared to earn their paycheck-lol

My mom made the mistake of asking a best buy employee a question a few months ago. It was my sister's birthday and she wanted a certain new Spongebob Squarepants season. The woman bent down, looked at the Spongebob selection (where my mom had just looked) and got up, and said no. Then my mom asked if they know when it might be available, and the girl said "i dont know". Then, my mom had to say "how about you check on the computer" and she went to check for like 5 minutes, came back and said there was no info on it. Not saying that every best buy employee is like this but man there are a lot, lol.

Yeah, The City really doesn't say "We sell electronics and related products."
Wasn't there a soap opera once called The City?

you don't think it sounds COOL!!!!!!!!!!-LOL
Chelsea 03-19-2008, 02:02 PM I was on the way back from Chattanooga a couple of weeks ago, and I stopped by a store to pick up a replacement car charger for my cell phone (I ripped the old apart trying to remove it from the plug-in). The store had just been finished being built, and wasn't officially open, but they were allowing customers in in order to work out kinks before their grand opening.
The store, which based on the articles I've read follows their new city concept, is actually quite nice. There's not nearly as much random crap, and the inside is spacious and well-lit, and the employees for the most part *gasp* seem to know what the hell they're talking about most of the time. I do most of my electronics-shopping at Circuit City anyway, but if the store I stopped at is indicative of the direction the company is taking it's product, then I'm a fan....EXCEPT: They need to fire the ad guru who came up with this name change garbage. It's silly. "The City" is so generic that it sounds like it could be anything from a nightclub to a real estate company to a TV soap opera to some sort of online video service. It's silly.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the name "Circuit City" though. Their biggest problems are a lack of advertising and lower number of available stores compared to Worst Buy, and also the older layouts of the stores built before around the turn of the decade (The new layouts being tested now are the third generation. Most stores built in the last few years are arranged similarly to Best Buy, while the older stores are built like some sort of bizarre meandering maze - THESE are the problem ones)
you don't think it sounds COOL!!!!!!!!!!-LOL
Can you imagine someone saying I am going to "The City" to buy a DVD player -LMAO  People will literally think you are going to the city -LOL

I can see someone saying-"WHAT CITY?? Why are you going to another city to buy a DVD player?-lol
InspectorExstead 03-19-2008, 05:56 PM that's dumb. i like the name circuit city.
though i do agree with you guys. best buy sucks. i've had so many problems with them, it's not even funny.

Yeah, we don't even have one here. I had to drive 200 miles to KC to buy my TV. Instead we have a CompUSA that was supposed to close about 6 months ago, and too many Best Buys, which when trying to buy memory for this laptop, did indeed turn out to be a worst buy. The store manager couldn't even sell me the right one.
