She wouldn't let him hang with that cool new friend of his for the weekend, she rather him stay home, he was old enough to decide he wanted to join the Navy, and she opposed it, she just didn't let him breathe. The boy looked well over 6 feet tall and she treated him like he was 12. Tommy deserved to have a lot more freedom than he had. He was a good kid and his mamma didn't trust him. This is one of many reasons why Alice is my least favorite character on the show.

She was overly protective. That can be said of a lot of mothers and fathers too. I guess when we ourselves are allowed a little breathing room, we can obviously see how others treat their kids and our jaws just drop. :eek2:

Alice treating Tommy like he was still 12 was a bit too much. I can see her concern for him wanting to go into the military, as if he wasn't really thinking it through, but still, he was old enough and he needed some breathing room to make his own decisions.
