I pretty much love all the episodes of the Fresh Prince except for maybe 1 or 2. I know I can't stand the one where Will makes the story about him being in a witness protection program and has to change his name. Although some parts of the episode were funny, it wasn't really one of my favorites and to me it had nothing to do with the show. Any episodes you don't care for or don't like as much as the others?

Just about the complete last two seasons. There were a few good episodes from season six but the seasons drifted alot from season four. I still stand by my statements that Nicky should have never been brought on and more should have been done with Tyra Banks character. The whole Lisa thing was just dumb. She appears, they date, they get engaged and the wedding is off.

Oh my God, there's that godawful episode, where Will is treated like he's nothing more than crap by uncle Phil, just because he had changed his style. And he had the nerve to ground his kids, even Hilary who was adult, because they agreed with Will. And aunt Viv just agreed with uncle Phil too. Damn it, how I hate that episode!

Thats the season premiere of the third season (Sept. 1992). I actually liked that episode, it sort of took the show back to the classic first season. I hated the unresolved cliffhanger in the the fourth season as when the fifth season started, they pulled an 'All of Us' (quick two minute explanation then off to something else).

I remembered another episode, that I don't like that much. It's the one about Will leaving a class at college, when the professor made it sound like it would all be hard work, only to find out the class was perfect for Will. I don't get why the professor lied like that, since it doesn't make sense at all. And just because he lied, Will lost a credit, so he had to take another class to become a sophomore next year.

^ are you talking about the one where he called the professor "Sting" ? Lol

and yea, i didn't care for nicky or lisa at all, matter fact having lisa in the show was really stupid in my mind. at least jackie was good cause they bad a history together, from back in Philly.

Yes, it was the one, where he called the professor "Sting". See, that's what was so great about this show. Even the worst episodes have their moments.

I actually liked Lisa, because when Will was with her, he matured and calmed down. And after she left, he went back to his old self, which was a disappointment to me. And even though Nicky didn't provide much for the show, I think he was a tolerable child star, unlike many other children, who are added for a "cutesy factor".

And yeah, there's a third episode, that I don't like that much. It was the one, where Will dropped out of college to become a car salesman. I think uncle Phil, aunt Viv and his mother should have let him do what he wanted. Because at that point, he was old enough to make his own decisions. Seeing Will being pulled away by his ear by his mother was just too much.

yea that's true but it seems like nicky was put in too many situations and he was only a child. and yeah i remember that episode, although i don't know what season that's in, the 5th?

Season 6 ep140 - I bowl,Buster
Carlton leaving Princeton & trying to become a bowler was stupid and it was a very boring episode.

Season 6 ep136 - Boxing Helena
I cringe at any episode that makes Will look like a punk. This is the ep where Will kept getting knocked out by a woman in the boxing ring.

Season5 ep120 - Save the last trance for me
This is the ep Will was hypnotized and he thought he was 4 years old. It was funny at first but it got extremely annoying seeing a grown man act so silly... even for a show.

Season 4 ep87 - Sleepless in bel-air
I didn't really care for this ep because it was rather boring to me. Will procrastinates on studying for his midterm at the last minute and he waits to do it the night before the final. Will keeps getting interrupted by his family members. Just seem like a pointless episode. However it does seem realistic like it can happen to anyone.. It was an ok ep.. not one of my favorites..

I did not care much for the one where Will and his girlfriend get stuck in the basement during an earthquake. I believe this one is called "Did the Earth Move for You?" from Season 2. The season premiere I believe. I barely laughed at this ep and Will and his gf's behavior annoyed me.

Also, as others have mentioned before, I don't care for the boxing ep from Season 6, as well as the one where they bring home the horse.

OK, I have to say that Fresh Prince had 148 episodes, and I only really didn't like THREE of them! That's it, out of the WHOLE SERIES. It's my second-favorite sitcom of all time. But the three I didn't like:
1) The one when Will had his tonsils out and Milton Berle was the old guy. Berle was a great comic, but hanging with the Fresh Prince? Come on! Who decided that was a good matchup?
2) The witness protection episode. I will say I gave that episode a second look and it wasn't as bad as I originally thought, but it was just so out there and so different from what they usually did. I suppose they get points for trying, but...
3) The Will drinks too much and thinks he died episode. I don't know what it is about this ep that bugs me, but I didn't like it. Robin Quivers actually wasn't too bad...it was just pretty hokey.

Most of the rest were 9 on a scale of 10, and I didn't mind the serious episodes. And I thought the car salesman one was hilarious, especially when Will sold a car to the Amish family!
Anyway, that's my 2 cents!

i can't STAND the witness protection program ep, can somebody please explain to me what that ep has to do with the series whatsoever? I know ppl have a distaste for the sad ones like Bullets in Bel-Air and Poppas Got A Brand New Gun but the plot to those two specific episodes relate to the episode at least, whether good or bad.

I actually liked the witness protection program episode. I thought it was very funny. I agree that it was different from the other episodes they did, but I think every sitcom back then had weird episodes like that, where it's all about someone having a dream or a fantasy or telling a story. I think the sitcoms did episodes like that because of two reasons, because (1) when they were running out of ideas for more realistic plots, they could go with less realistic plots for some episodes instead, and (2) because they simply wanted to give such ideas a try sometimes. I actually think "The Fresh of Bel Air" had few episodes like this compared to other sitcoms, like "The Cosby show" or "Family Matters" or "Step by step". And FP's unrealistic episodes sure beat similar episodes on "The Cosby show", which were incredibly bad. They had Cliff having stupid dreams or Sondra and Elvin dancing around in field in a weird fantasy land. "Family Matters" and "Step by step" usually did a good job with episodes like this though.

will's father turning up, and then leaving again

will being hypnotised and acting like a child, whenever a bell was rung

carlton taking drugs and ending up in hospital

vivian and phil relieving their soul train days

all the ones involving hilary- apart from the ones where she is blackmailed by carlton and will after she drops out of college, the scene at the dinner table is hilarious, and where she had to go out with jazz on a date with will and vanessa redmond in the first season

I don't know, the one where Trevor died was good and that involved her, cause she was his fiance and the halloween episode was great where she tried to talk to Trevor through the fat guy relocating his spirit

That's an episode I can relate to. So many professors look like students and me hitting on this young lady in the Commons area. She smiled and we talked, exchanged numbers only to find out she was teaching my English Comp class. I had to hurry up and switch out of that class, lol.

If they wanted to bring Lisa in, she should have been introduced during the 4th season as a patron of the Peacock or something. It would have made the storyline flow better. In fact, it would have been funny to see Jackie get jealous during the 5th season despite her claiming she was over Will. But, the parents getting married was too much. I will admit, it was suprising and different but come on. Who marries someone they only knew for a few days? At least put off the wedding and have it happen during season six.

Furienna
04-14-2008, 11:11 AM
Yeah, their parents got married too fast. Lisa and Will had known each other for a year at least. They should have gotten married, not their parents. But I guess Nia Long wanted to quit, so Will couldn't marry Lisa.

hey i found the craziest thing, you know how on numerous websites about the FP it is stated some characters played more then one rule, Sherman Hemsley as Mr. Jefferson and Judge Robertson and Nia Long. Well I found another! (no, not the guy that plays a million roles, i found another one). Remember "Sting", Will's history professor in ULA in the latter part of the show. Well he also played a director I believe it was when Hilary had her own show. I've seen 3/4 episodes at least with him on the set before an airing of the Hilary show on the program. Dunno if anybody else besides me remembers this but i thought id bring it up (professor/director was a white guy with dark brown hair)

speaking of guest actors appearing on the fresh prince more than once, what about queen latifah? she played two different characters- one was called vanessa redmond in the first season, though i cannot remember the other one but it was when will made fun of her weight

Her name was DeeDee (Denise?) then.

By the way, I just remembered two endings, which I find extremely awful, or at least annoying.
1: In the episode where Will pretends he's Nicky's father, he finally admits that he's been lying, and all those gifts goes to another guy with a baby. But instead of just stopping the scene there, so that a real single father with a baby got the gifts, they just had to have that guy just pretending too.
2: In the first episode with judge Robertson, Will is bribed by a very unattractive and geeky girl, so he will go out with her, because she thinks going out with Will will make her more popular. But then, when she thinks Will has done his job, she demands back all things she had given him. And how rude wasn't it to demand back the things, that she had given to him as payment?

I think that episode with Will getting bribed was in season 3. He was still in High School, but I think it was his senior year.
