A few weeks ago, a fellow poster on this site informed me of an interview of Hazel Shermet that was done back in 2000. This was shortly before her husband died. If you look down a few threads, you will see a couple started by me regarding my interest in this interview. In any event, in between the last time that I posted here and the present, I went ahead and bought a new set of speakers and was able to hook them up myself. For those of you who do not know, Hazel is a character actress who made three guest appearances as three different characters on "Gimme a Break!" Overall, I thought that the interview was pretty good. However, during the interview, she talked very little about her time on this show. The only episode that she really got into was the one in which she played Rita the cosmetics saleslady on "Mom's Birthday". She told us about how that funny hair style that she had was really a wig. In my opinion, the time that she did her best was when she played the busybody on the pay phone in "The Emergency". I thought that her scene in this episode was halarious! The scene in which her skirt got sucked up in "Nell Goes Door to Door" was pretty good too. I wish that she would have reminiced a little bit more about these episode. In any event, during the interview, she mentioned having been born in 1920. This means that was was "61" during her "first" appearance on "Gimme a Break!" If you asked me, I would say that she looked damm good for a woman in her sixties! What do other fans think?

I have to agree she looked great for her age. Especially when she was on GAB, hard to believe that she was in her 60's when she was on the show. She was in a lot of great 70 and 80's tv shows.

A am posting this to let the last poster know how happy I am that at least one person has responded to a thread that I started! If you go down a few threads, you will see "tons" started by me that have "zero" responses! One thing that I would really like to do is stimulate some more conversation regarding this sereis. After I submit this message, I will probably go and dig up a few more that people have responded to in the past and bring them to the top. This way, I might spark at least one other person's interest in the subject.

I think the reason why there aren't that many post on this board is because GAB isn't airing in that many cities/states. Also there are on 2 seasons out on DVD.

I would have to agree with the last poster about why there have been so few recent post in regards to this series. Because of how few local networks air reruns of this show and because only two seasons are out on DVD, the series is, pretty much, out of site out of mind. However, there is talk of season three getting released by the end of the year. I would "really" like to see this take place! My favorite episode of this season is "Samantha's Protest". I loved seeing Katie's bubble being bursted by Samantha at the end of the episode! I would consider the pricelss look on Katie's face at the end as being reason enough to pay top dollar for that season!
