My Dad has been in the hospital since Saturday morning with congestive heart failure. His blood pressure has been off the charts. Yesterday it seemed like he was getting better but I just talked to him a little while ago and it doesn't seem like he is. I sure would appreciate any prayers you can give him. Thanks. :(

Thanks everybody. They're moving my Dad to Hershey. They have a bigger hospital there. Also my 2 Aunts ( his sisters) are coming up.

(Forgive me: last summer my own father was hospitalized and operated on for carotid artery blockage, only found after a series of micro-strokes. I've gone through this. I really do hope he's in good hands, and everything goes well.)

I just came back from seeing him and he doesn't look good. We got a meeting with his doctor tonight.

We just got done meeting with his doctor and he's booked into Hershey. They don't know when he's going..it depends when they get a bed available. It looks like surgery though. They said if he doesn't go then they could patch him up but he'd be back in the hospital again in a few weeks. My Aunts got here while we were up there. They must have really made some miles because they're from NY. Anyway thanks so much for all your prayers. You guys are great friends. :)

Thanks everyone. :) First they have to see if it's worth it to have surgery but they won't know until he gets down there. The doctor did say surgery was his best bet though.This has just been a very long day.

I mentioned this over in random but I thought I'd mention it here too. My Dads going to Hershey today and I'll be going up there too so I won't be on for a few days. Afterwards I probably won't be on SO as much as I usually am at least for a while. We had a family meeting and we're all going to have to do our part in helping with his recovery. Thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers. They mean a lot to me. The best part of SO is meeting people like you guys. You all have become a big part of my life these past almost 5 years. You guys really are the best. :)

Sonny, your Dad is in my thoughts and prayers. I lit a candle for him at my old church on the way home earlier. I forgot his name, so I said in my prayer, "Sonny's Dad", lol. Your Dad has a great family supporting him, and that's so important. You and your two our sisters remind me of the way I was with my parents when they got ill. All over it.

It's great that he's going to be in a good hospital with a doctor who knows what he's doing, not like that other quack you mentioned. We'll miss you on the boards very much, but you need to take care of what's important, and it doesn't get any more important than this. Please try to keep us updated when you can. :heart:

What is Sonny's dad's name? I was going to ask one of the priests to have him in daily prayers and I wanted to give him a name. In my nightly prayers I tell God, "Sonny's dad." I am sure God knows who I am referring to. ;)

I just thought I'd check it for a few minutes. My Dad's still in the hospital but he seems to be doing better. They finally got his blood pressure and his heartbeat down. He doesn't have to have bypass surgery. That was really a load off our minds because when he went up there, that's what everyone was thinking. The doctors said he has a tired heart and all this latest problem was caused by him not sticking to his diet and forgetting to take some of his medicine sometime. He just can't do that anymore. On top of that they said his lungs were not operating properly...probably a result of him smoking for 30 plus years.

Oh and Janice and Irene...his name is Charlie....thanks so much to everybody for keeping him in your prayers. I am sure that it is having a great affect on him. :)

I don't know when I'll be posting again but I just wanted everyone to know what's happening so far. Thanks again. :)

Remember that angioplasty is another option besides heart bypass. Less invasive.

Yes, your Dad just needs to make some lifestlye changes. I think with you and your sisters, who remind me of how I used to be with my parents, Charlie will be fine. He's a fortunate man to have such loving children. :)

My Dad finally got home tonight. He seems to be doing a lot better. They had to wait until they got his blood pressure and Heart rate down. He's on new medicine now and hopefully this'll do the trick. It has really been an exhausting couple of weeks but I really appreciate all of your prayers. I am sure it had an effect on him. :)
