As some of you know recently we lost our cat Chava. Though it seems too early imo, we decided to get a new cat today. We got her (we haven't settled on a definite name yet) from PetSmart. She's approx. 14 months old. She's half tabby half simese(spelling?). She's off-white and gray. She seems nice and has a lot of energy. It's sad to see her doing things Chava used to. It's hard to say if having her will help or not with the loss of Chava. The name we are considering for her is Cuddles. We adopted her. There are so many animals that need good homes. We were told that we were the first people that she has even bonded with. I'm not sure why she didn't connect with people before us. She will probably melt my heart like Chava did. I'm a sucker when it comes to animals. :)

Dont think of it as sad that she reminds you of Chava , think of it as Chava showing her love through Cuddles and the bond she already feels for you :)

I think it's wonderful that there are people like you who eagerly give these cats a home. Everytime i go to PetsMart i get sad looking at those poor cats locked up in cages. I wish i could give them all homes instantly everytime I see them. Even though this cat will not replace Chava, she will give you more unique and newer memories to hold on to :) She will melt your heart in no time. Heck, all those cats at PetsMart already melt my heart when I go see them for like a minute, lol.

I love animals, too. It's good you adopted her. :) Give Cuddles a big hug for us and can't wait to see pix. :)

I'm glad you found a cat that seems to click with you. :) And having another friend around will take your mind off the pain of missing Chava.

Jenny, that's just wonderful! Cuddles sounds like a little sweetie, and I just love that name. It's not too soon. You felt a void. When lost our 17-year old cat, we went out the very next day and bought a kitten. Two months later, another one. You and Cuddles are a match made in Heaven. I can just tell. I'm so happy for you. I know from our e:mail chats how your heart is just broken over Chava. It still will be, most likely. You can experience all the emotions together. Grief for Chava and joy for Cuddles. She's a lucky little feline, with such a fantastic Mom, like you. :heart:

I'm glad you have a kitten in your life. Cats are great animals. There is nothing better than a cat with a sweet disposition. (My big tom cat Satchmo was an absolute sweetie pie with me and other people. But he hated other cats. So he was my one and only. He lived to 14 - he got cancer at 12 1/2 and finally after lots of treatments his kidneys gave way and I had to put him to sleep.)

Thanks Janice. Cuddles is funny. I wonder how she learned how to play hide and seek. She also sometimes likes to try and get cabinet doors open. We have to watch her. She's so curious. My mother jokes that Cuddles is too nosey. :lol:
