I'm usually not a fan of ghost stories, but I think this is one of my favorites. It's just so darn spooky. I was curious to know what you guys of think of this case. Was this a legitimate haunting or a hoax? One thing I do find kind of odd is that the children from both families seemed to describe the same levitation phenomena. I don't know if there is any evidence that the two families could have collaborated to concoct this story for some reason (publicity, money, etc.) but if they did not collaborate, you have to wonder how the children came up with this story.

It sure is spooky as you said and I wanna believe but I don't on this one. The whole story is based on a dodgy photo and testimony of children 4 years old at the time. Just about every kid at that age thinks they see ghosts. Having said all that, no chance in hell I'd spend a night there alone

Here is the photo of the "ghost". Sorry, not sure why it capped in black and white.

Lol, I agree, CD

As for this "ghost", they just took a picture of a TV screen according to a photo expert :)

Time to play "Name that show", you'll get a bonus point if you can name the actor as well  ;)

Any ideas? :)

Really? That photo used to scare me when I was a kid. I remember the first time I ever saw that segment on UM. I had to sleep with all the lights on.

The photo expert was Vernon Miller, btw. I have seen him on other shows (like In Search of) debunking other alleged ghost and UFO photos. His interview on "In Search of" was quite memorable as he showed how a ghost picture could be fabricated with a double exposure, even on Polaroid film, IIRC. He also appeared in the Dorothy Izatt UM segment and I think he debunked her pictures too. He always struck me as an interesting and level headed guy. I think his analysis was probably correct in this case, but what show/movie is that screen shot from?

Well I didn't watch this one as a kid so I suppose it may have been more frightening. I think its his expression that amuses me, he looks bewildered.

As far as guessing what show it could be from. If I recall correctly he was wearing a lumberjack type shirt. I could see someone from "Little House On The Prairie" looking like that. Just a guess though. :)

True. Ya gotta admit though, it is strange that in all the years this has been around, no one has come forward and exposed it as a scene from a movie/TV show/etc. I think Stack even said in the broadcast that the photo was published in newspapers and no one ever came forward saying they recognized the man. I'm not saying I believe it's real, just putting that out there...

Yeah, I'm skeptical, but a good creepy segment regardless :)

Indeed. I was surprised when this didn't make it to the "Ghosts" DVD collection. It just seems like common sense.

As was I. Another one that didn't make it that surprised me was the hotel one....can't remember the name, but I think CD may have put it on one of the CD's.....

Really? I didn't know there was another "missing" ghost story. Could it have been the St. James? I thought I read some speculation (perhaps on here) that it may have been a publicity hoax.

Yeah, it was the St. James. I've heard it's a good one, but I've never seen it. Was it a hoax? I haven't heard, I'll have to look it up. Can someone summerize it for me? Maybe it'll ring a bell....

The St. James hotel was a really good segment. From what I can recall, the hotel was purchased by a couple who had some strange encounters. One night the owner tried to turn off a chandelier and it would keep coming on until she told the person she "was tired and wanted to go home." There was a scene where a young man was cleaning up the bar, and observed a child spinning a glass on the countertop. The best scene was where a bright ball of light was noticed in one of the rooms hovering around.

A physic was brought in to reveal that she felt the hotel was haunted by a man who had lost the hotel in a deadly game of poker.

Hope this helps a little
