Anyone remember the episode where Klemmer the butcher, superbly played by Theodore Bikel, stops by the Bunkers with his fiancee Judith? In that episode, Jean Stapleton played both Edith and Judith. I remember that episode where Klemmer still had eyes for Edith, almost losing Judith.

According to www.tvtome.com, the episode you are talking about is 'A Girl Like Edith.' It was in the 9th season, and is episode 198. It wasn't one of my favorites, but Jean did an amazing job playing the dual role. I like where Edith is at the Kitchen table and Judith walks in. The camera is set where you see both there faces. The audience claps. I wonder how they did that.

An interesting tidbit - Jean is listed in the credits as "Giovanna Pucci" which is a version of her married name, Jean Putch.

By the time we get to episode 198 I don't think the show was being filmed in front of a live audience. The episodes sound like they were tracked.

Well, you know how Archie hated having company over, and he kept mispronouncing Judith's last name and making fun of how Klemmer keeps "hitting on" Edith. Which makes Judith jealous and blows up at Klemmer. :lol:
