I haven't had a chance to sit down and watch the show all the way through yet. From what I did see, I kind of liked it .... the idea of a still in the kitchen seemed far-fetched like that, yet that is what makes the show fun! I was happy to see what looked like some names associated with the original show back on in the production of it, as well as the original theme song! My impression was that it was just an extended Sanford and Son ... minus the son!

Not an Extension, a Revival Series. It was 3 years in between the time Sanford and Son ended and the time Sanford started so it doesn't fall into the Extension category.

Extension Examples are

Archie Bunkers Place-1979
Three's A Crowd-1984

I loved it back then...but, I think all the insults, semi-rascist jokes and the father-son dynamic a little too close to my own with my Dad, id have a hard time watching it NOW

If anyone posts clips from Sanford anywhere on the internet, Viacom International will have it removed within a day or so. For some reason, they have a tight reign over this series but, Sanford and Son? It's all over YouTube and other video sites and has been there for quite a while.

I never saw Sanford prior to last Sunday's rerun on BET. Somehow I missed it when it originally ran. I saw S&S during it's actual run on tv, though, and have been enjoying the reruns. Plus I have all 6 seasons on DVD. I love it!

I guess I am in the minority here, but I do not like Sanford. I am glad to have the chance to catch the show now for nostalgic reasons, but so far I am not crazy about the series. Maybe as I see other eps, I will "get into the show" more.

Having Cal living in the Sanford household seems very far-fetched and I am not crazy about the character or any of the characters I've seen so far in that one ep. Maybe it'll take a few more eps to get a better outlook on the show. :(

The fact that Fred and Cal were a Odd Couple doing business together wasn't funny? The Fat jokes that Fred constantly said to Cal?

I thought the show was okay. Though I think I'll be able to understand it a bit better during the marathon, like I'll get a better introduction to the rest of the characters. I didn't like that they started at episode 4.

I always wondered if they used the same theme music.

Someone could try Dailymotion, since Viacom or any of those other corporate-Nazi companies haven't gotten their mitts on people uploading videos over as much as they do w/ Veoh and You Tube.

Yeah that was a poor way to introduce the show especially since it's rare

I watched, Sanford for the very first time last night; yes, I did enjoy the show; the only complaint that I have, is that I found some of the jokes recycled from Sanford and Son and a couple of the characters, weak. I think one of the main reasons why Sanford and Son was such an instant hit back in the 1970s, because the show was a head of it's time; though, Sanford was funny, it seemed a tad contrived. I was slightly disappointed with Rollo; his interactions with Fred, seemed, watered down, compared to S&S, like the chemistry between them, was no longer there. In speaking of chemistry, I thought that Fred had a much stronger connection with Evelyn Lewis, than compared to his relationship with Donna. I also, thought Evelyn and Fred were cute together, more compatiable, and their personalities complimented each other...

I think there was no need to add CLIFF and SISSY. And I would have preferred to see more of WINSTON and CLARA than CISSY and CLIFF

I was indifferent of the Sissy character; she did add a little charm to the show, but she was also a weak character, too; now for Clara..I was not impressed with her..AT ALL..she made me miss Esther; she was not a strong character; her interaction with Fred was..just boring.

clara was my girl, cut that out-lol

I forgot the marathon was on and only caught that last couple of eps that they aired!

Of the few eps I've seen so far, I have noticed that a lot of the jokes were recycled. OTOH, they did a pretty good job of keeping Fred's personality fairly consistent for both series.

Did anyone notice that the man Fred was talking to in the restaurant in the Dinner at George's ep was played by the same actor who played the man in the restaurant that Fred was bothering in S&S "Happy Birthday, Pop" ep?

I was unaware that a marathon of Sanford was going to air to BET, too; one of the many benefits of this board...

i don't think i would have known about a marathon either if I wasn't a member of this board-lol

I think since Sanford & Son did very well on DVD, Sony would release Sanford on DVD. It is far more possible than Grady or Sanford Arms.

I know this is far fetch; but, I hope that they release Sanford on DVD:)

it would seem to be a natural!

I don't understand why the show isn't just syndicated with the rest of the S&S package.

My mom was thrilled to see these yesterday--"when did they make these?"--they were to her S&S The Lost Episodes

I think Sony could easily package Sanford with the rest of S&S--after all, it would be another 26 episodes (easily a FULL season) to add to the package.

Same thing with DL Taffner and Three's a Crowd--it just could easily slip into the Three's Company package as an extra season.

but sanford on DVD wouldn't be as appealing as GRADY or SANFORD ARMS since the entire series was aired on BET and you know everyone has it on DVD. so what would be the big rush to buy sanford on DVD when its no longer a rare show?-lol

Im not a fan off the spin-off, Sanford.
His house mate (the real big overweight guy) was not a good target for Redd's fat jokes. He was too wimpy, sad, kind of pathetic. I felt sorry for him when Fred made fun of him.

Lamont, on the other hand, was a perfect straight man. His crazy schemes for getting ahead in life (eg. sailor on a tramp steamer around the world, antique collector, actor in that "legitimate" movie which turned out to be a porn film) deserved Fred's ridicule and thus were entertaining.

But he did start insulting Fred back later on in the series and sometimes insulting Fred first
