I posted this in the second season dvd review thread but wanted to make sure that this was seen. I picked up the region 2 second season DVDs and wanted to let the group know that the music is intact on the episodes...as well as the "contributing artists" card on the closing credits and the original paramount logo. Unfortunately, the theme is still the 3rd season theme...not Rock around the Clock but I thought you all might find this of interest.

Transfers appear to be the same as r1 goes as far as picture quality.

What you mean? Do you have other Music on the R2 than on the R1 ???

if we are talking about Region 2 dvd's and not Region 1 dvd's it still wouldn't make sense for them to pay the music licensing rights for it - I mean it still would've cost them MILLIONS of dollars (according to Paramount) and they wouldn't sell as many R2 as they would R1 normally.

can we get a track listing for some of the episodes to compare against the original airings?

- also - are those in the PAL format if they are R2?

They are PAL discs but my DVD player converts PAL to NTSC on the fly (plays multi-region as well). There are different laws governing music rights abroad (one of the reasons behind region coding) so it's not always cost-prohibitive to include original music on DVDs. That's why the complete Ally McBeal series is available in r2 and not in the US.

BTW - I always swore that Wake Up Little Suzy was playing in Fonz's apartment in "Guess Who's Coming to Christmas" when Mr. C and Ritchie were outside Fonz's apartment door. Both TVLand and the r1 DVD had generic music. The song has been restored to its rightful place on the r2 set.

A Friend of mine in Finland has just bought me the Region2 Box.

I've only checked one Episode, but I heard a Song I haven't heard on the American Region1 Set ... that's a good Sign ... isn't it?

I still don't get it, but when I have the Music now where it was/belongs to, then everything's alright :)
