Very surprising news. Looks like 18 episodes this coming fall on ABC so it's not done yet.

As much as I would love another season of Scrubs, I worry that Zach Braff will move on (I believe his current contract is up and he has made noise about wanting to leave Scrubs) and thus the show will lose its focal point.

I am glad that the final season will be on the air somewhere. It's a shame they couldn't come to a deal with NBC.

Hopefully the cast will remain intact.

The problem is, ABC will probably want to keep the show going indefinatly. I'm sure they didn't buy the show just to have it on for one season.

Since Zach Braff has stated he's wanted to leave the show but stuck around to wrap things up, ABC might have to cough up some $$$ to keep him (and other cast members) on for more seasons.

As much as I love the show, I think it's time to end it. It's had a good run.

well, I think the show deserves a true final season instead of letting it be abbreviated because of the strike, so I'm glad they decided to do one more season instead of letting it end without climax

well, most shows that ran their course and got new life breathed by another network usually only last one more season anyways, like Diff'rent Strokes, Family Matters and Step By Step. Buffy was an exception, but even then, that just lasted two years on UPN

Hmmm...I'm interested to see if this pans out. According to NBC, ABC pulls this stunt of 'taking' Scrubs as a negociation ploy. I'm not sure, though if an 8th season is the best idea. The writers and Bill Lawrence were under the impression season 7 would be the last, so I hope they don't run out of ideas for season 8. Season 7 started pretty strong and I want the show to go out on a high note. Hopefully the last 4 episodes will be produced and aired on NBC. At least we know that no matter what we'll get some good closing episodes either on NBC, ABC, or DVD.
