View Full Version : Websleuths reject.....
I'm a daily lurker at Websleuths and I don't have an email address that they will accept for registration. I do like to look into UID's and missing people and try to match them like they do there.
My question, is, does anyone on the UM boards have this interest as well? If so, I have some possible matches that I was wanting some input on and was going to start a thread, but didn't want to if it would get no responses.
Let me know, thanks and God bless :)

Sure. I think it would be interesting and great if you could actually find a match. I'd be happy to give you some input and I'm sure others would as well.
That thread title cracked me up....

You need to register using your own IP provider's e-mail address. You can't register with a webmail address. And if the software doesn't recognize your IP address as legitimate, you can't either. You can try to debate it with the administrator but I suspect you will not succeed.
I would be interested in your thread if you care to advance it here.
nohwheregirl 02-29-2008, 01:51 AM We Websleuthers are a VERY EXCLUSIVE club and don't just let any old riff raff in, Kamy. :p Just kidding, of course!!! Yeah, I don't know why they're so strict, but I guess it's a good way to keep the trolls out.
I probably personally won't participate but I think it's a good idea and I'll follow along.
Yeah, I realize you have to use your IP provider's email address--at this point, I don't have one, but I plan on calling them and setting one up so I can join. It's a great board. Understandable about screening people, it's probably for the best.
Anyway, I'll put together some matches tonight and get this posted early next week. Warning: I'm still learning, so I may be waaay off!
Thanks for the feedback.
TeresaB24 03-03-2008, 12:54 PM I never realized that you had to use your IP providers email address, no wonder I have been denied, I don't pay for my internet, so I do not have a IP provider email address, my internet is included in my rent ( not really, my roommate lets me use his.)
I understand them wanting to keep certain ones out, but limiting access to those with only IP provider email address is a bit much, since some of us live with others and they provide the internet.
Surely asking the admins to make an exception is not the way to go, since they probably don't really care for the reason. But this is my opinion.

I still plan to post my matches, I've just been so busy at work, I haven't had the time. I will do it tomorrow. Thanks guys!
Okay, here is my first potential match. Keep in mind, I'm new at this and may be waaay off. But here goes.
Missing woman:

Angela Abbrederis
Potential match #1

I realize the composite isn't a dead ringer for Angela, but that doesn't always mean anything.
Potential match #2

let me know. I have a few others I'll post when I get a chance. I may be way off, because you would think that they would start by checking her against Jane Does found around Dallas, but who knows.

Wow, impressive Kamy. The mouth of the missing woman does look similar to possible match #1. Also dark hair and both missing and found in Texas. I'd say you should turn it into doe and see what they say. :)
porchlight 05-10-2008, 01:09 PM You guys are all welcome at Porchlight for the Missing and Unidentified.

I am interested.
ms_bates 07-15-2008, 02:33 AM Count me in. I want to join up at websleuths, but I need to get an ISP email address first. With all due respect to the websleuths admins, I do think this email rule is a bit much and probably excludes quite a few people (some that may have helpful information) from signing up.
Oh well, I suppose they are doing what they think is best for the forum. Can't fault them for that. I'll get registered eventually!
benoitbabe 07-15-2008, 10:51 PM I am interested. ME too. I am a websleuths member and I have my own site. www.geocities.com/kidmissing
Well, I haven't lurked anywhere for a while now, but I noticed that websleuths is moving to a new server and I thought I read something about not needing an email address from your IP provider...? Perhaps....perhaps we can all join now?!?!?!?
So here is my pet case for the moment...this one literally haunts me. I haven't had any luck finding a potential match that no one else hasn't already thought of.....

Obi Wan 03-07-2009, 09:07 PM Kamy, I am a reject too:) I am a brand new reject so things have not changed there.
TeresaB24 03-18-2009, 07:00 PM Hi all,
I was able to become a member of websleuth's and no I don't have an isp email address.
What I did was write to one of the administrators told them I would like to become a member and that I don't have a internet provider email address. But I would like to become a member. I also included that I have been a member of another board since 2003, provided them with my user name for that board, at the fact that, that board is well maintianed and operated.
They approved me, and asked what I wanted my user name to be, gave me a temp password and ther you go.
So maybe if you sent them an email they will let you join. It worked for me.

I think they have had their hands full lately at Websleuths.
