View Full Version : Was Florida making fun of James?
craftman 02-27-2008, 09:29 PM In "JJ's New Career Part 1", Florida didn't have enough money to pay the bills, and they said, "What would James do if he was here right now?" Florida said, "Oh, that's simple.......DAMM!!!!!", as she knocked the bills off the table.
It kinda seemed like they were making fun of James' character..... even though that's exactly how he acted.;)
Ireneparalegal 02-27-2008, 09:32 PM Not at all. I think Florida was flustered abt the financial situation and she resorted doing something she remembers her man doing.
Me and my sister do that a lot abt our late father, we will say things like, "What would dad do?" or "What would dad say?" and then we do or say the thing he would have done in that same predicament.
Ireneparalegal 05-07-2008, 09:38 PM Florida also wore some pants that seemed a little tight on her. That she obviously got from James.

James pats Florida on the butt
Florida: Hey, you wouldn't do that to Henry Kissinger!
James: Henry ain't got what you got
:brent

FOR DAMN SURE!
TVFactFan 05-11-2008, 11:55 AM The funny thing was I don't recall James ever acting like that over BILLS-lol Unless it was OFF SCREEN
Prime Example would be when James was paying Bills in the beginning of the ep-"Dinner Party" and never once got irritated.
TVFactFan 05-11-2008, 11:56 AM I think the WRITERS were making fun of the James character
Ireneparalegal 05-11-2008, 02:03 PM James did get upset over having bills and he did say the word, "DAMN" when he was mad. He may not have knocked bills over, but still, bills pissed him off. I don't blame him.
There were many opportunities for the writers to have the characters mention James, and they goofed when they didn't.

State the ep when James was mad about paying bills because I don't remember. I only remember him getting mad over being LAID OFF and the JOB MARKET
Ireneparalegal 05-11-2008, 02:06 PM He was upset abt J.J.'s $300 dental bill.
TVFactFan 05-11-2008, 02:12 PM He was upset abt J.J.'s $300 dental bill.
That's because it wasn't a typical bill, those bills that Florida slammed on the Floor was bills you have to pay every month-lol No need to get upset about those bills

She didn't have enough money to cover the bills.
TVFactFan 05-11-2008, 02:17 PM She didn't have enough money to cover the bills.
I know but I'm saying james never got upset about REGULAR BILLS only the ones that didn't come every month
Florida's Operation
J.J's dental bill
So basically he was pnly upset about MEDICAL BILLS which made Florida's imitation of him inaccurate
Ireneparalegal 05-11-2008, 02:32 PM James seemed to get mad abt bills when he got laid off or when there wasn't enough money to cover the REGULAR bills in general.
TVFactFan 05-11-2008, 02:37 PM James seemed to get mad abt bills when he got laid off or when there wasn't enough money to cover the REGULAR bills in general.
I just don't remember, I just remember most of his frustration dealing with not being able to find the right job or getting laid off
Ireneparalegal 05-11-2008, 02:47 PM I just don't remember, I just remember most of his frustration dealing with not being able to find the right job or getting laid off
Yeah because he had bills that needed to be paid. The rent too. Remember the meatloaf episode, he was happy because they actually had money left over. It was even said or mentioned how money is never left over. That is why I said before, they were stupid to not have saved it for the next month's bills or a month when they were going to need it.

yeah but he still wasnn't upset in the meatloaf ep-"after paying the bills in a calm way, he told florida to do something silly with the leftover money
Brieannas21 05-11-2008, 11:50 PM A bill is a bill, I don't care if it's dental, rent, electric, gas or water. It's still something that you have to pay and it's still money that's coming out of your pocket.
Ireneparalegal 05-12-2008, 12:06 AM You said it Brie. I mean, the only times James was happy was when he wasn't dealing with bills, dealing with some crisis or some other issue. He had a lot on his plate and he did not have a reliable job sometimes.

That was still an inacurrate imitation of him dealing with bills by florida-lol

No, it wasn't because whenever James got mad or discouraged, he would always yell out DAMN! and you can't say that he has never hit a table and yelled at the same time.
I don’t remember Flo saying anything about how James acted in the past about bills. I think she was referring to how James would act in that situation, by knowing his character.
Ireneparalegal 05-12-2008, 04:50 PM That was still an inacurrate imitation of him dealing with bills by florida-lol
She wasn't trying to do an ACCURATE imitation of James. She said, "What WOULD James do in this situation?" NOT, "What did James DO IN THIS SITUATION?" She was guessing how he might react to the fact there was not enough money for bills...DAMN! James was merely a character but I can imagine that is what he would say simply because we had seen enough of him to know he used that word many times and he usually used it when something made him mad or upset. Not having $$$ for bills would make him upset.
Brie said it very well in her post above.

Exactly,
It's like what happened with me on Saturday I was rolling up a small piece of paper because I was about to throw it at my husband. And all of a sudden I remembered something that my best friend (who died almost 3 yrs ago) said one time, and I started to laugh to myself because I knew that if she was there with me she would have done something else completely different with that piece of paper. And I knew exactly what she would have done because I knew the type of person she was.
