Yes, happy birthday Gavin...btw, how old is he?

The two things that strike me about him are:
1) He really knew how to give a line as Murray. He always paused for the perfect amount of time and then delivered the zinger, usually to Ted or Sue Ann. I'm sure it wasn't as easy as he made it look.
2) I could never really enjoy the Love Boat (not that I really would have that much anyway) because I couldn't picture Capt. Stubing as anybody but Murray! I know he had parts before and after, but he's Murray all the way to me.

Gavin originally tried out for the part of Lou Grant but apparently wasn't satisfied with the audition and asked to read for Murray Slaughter.

[Oh, according to imdb.com -which can be wrong sometimes- it says he was born in 1930. So that would make him 78 now...if that's true]
