Some shows I just don't need to own the entire series, those shows are

Hangin With Mr. Cooper-only season 1

All in the Family-Season 4 and after

Diffrent Strokes-Only season 3 and after

Happy Days-seasons 5 and 6 only

Laverne and Shirley-seasons 5 and after

its funny, if i buy a dvd set starting with 1, i have to finish all the way through to the end. i dont have it in me to stop mid show :)

and it kills me waiting for the final season of anything to be released once i've gotten the first season.

Hangin With Mr. Cooper is the only show I would start with season one and stop

For me it's the opposite with ADW, I only want season 1 because of the Cosby Show Cast members appearing on the show-lol

You find that season watchable?

Yeah because I'm a fan of crossover episodes

So really you collect episodes of shows that have crossovers in them? Not that you find it watchable.

Well if I like the show, for example if Step by Step season 1 came out I would buy it because of the Urkel guest appearance in the second ep of Step by Step

But again, you don't care for Step By Step, you don't find it a watchable show, you merely would want it to get the Urkel episode. Right?

It's watchable but I wouldn't want to own the series on DVD. I would watch it everynight if it was on N@N

I think because Lenny and Squiggy's role was smaller during that era

I'm really picky about all my tv shows, so it's rare that I ever complete an entire series - unless it's a short one or 2 season show.

I have however completed all 4 seasons of Punky.

Even with Three's Company, I started at season 2 and ended on season 5. I only like to get the cream of the crop.

I would say one of the biggest example for me is Moonlighting. As i did only buy the first 3 seasons which is tv at its best. Season 4 and 5 is such a dropoff in quality and for the most part unwatchable that i did not and will not buy those. But usually i am a completist when it comes to these things. Another example is The West Wing where i only own season 1 thru 4. But for the most part i try to complete what i am collecting till the very end.

Here is a LINK (http://www.dvdspot.com/list.php?list=owned&sortby=title&sortdir=up&filter=1978445083&display=all&page=1) to my tv on dvd collection if anyone cares to take a look.

I'm a HUGE Laverne & Shirley fan, but I'm not entirely sure that I'll put in the money to purchase the Cali years, in part because I like to pretend they didn't exist... :p Throw on a few extras though, and I might be able to be persuaded...

Also, I'm a big Gilmore Girls fan but I feel like this show also massively jumped around midway through its run, so I don't see myself completing my collection (as much as I do cherish the first few seasons!!). For me, I tend to buy earlier seasons as opposed to later - and then I just quit buying at the point at which I think the show SHOULD HAVE ended...

The Cali years of L&S have only so many good episodes with Shirley. And maybe two or three with Shirley gone. Other than that, I don't know if I would get those years.

Charmed: Only the first 3 seasons with Prue Halliwell (Shannen Doherty).

Charlie's Angels: Only the first 3 seasons with Sabrina Duncan (Kate Jackson).

Friday the 13th: The Series: Only the first 2 seasons with Ryan Dallion (John D. Lemay).

Dallas: Only the seasons before Pam and Bobby got a divorce.

Dynasty: Only the first 3 seasons when Pamela Sue Martin was on the show.

Buffy: The seasons before Angel and Cordelia left the show.

Love Boat: The seasons when Julie was on the show.

"I Love Lucy": The first two seasons were good, but I'm stopping there. Lucy had her moments, but a lot of times, I believe that the show became downright silly.

The Doris Day Show--I will only buy the first three seasons. they were the best. Seasons 4 and 5 have too many cast changes and storyline continuity errors that make them really unwatchable.

Oh, and I'd only buy the first season of The John Larroquette Show, before NBC meddled.

I considered buying the Prue episodes as well, but we just rent them from Netflix.

Love Boat: The seasons when Julie was on the show.
I had forgotten that she wasn't on the show the entire time.

I have Season One of "Joan of Arcadia" (which I love, but honestly don't watch hardly at all), but I am still up in the air about buying Season 2. They ruined it for me after the first season and then it was canceled. I think they should have left it the way it was. That's how it became a hit.

I considered buying all the seasons of "Little House on the Prairie" but I may end up just buying the first few. Those are my favorites anyway.

As for shows I would buy all of:
Seinfeld-I have all 9
Monk (only have 5-6 left to buy)
Full House-I have Seasons 1-5, so I need to finish that collection.
Square Pegs-which sadly is only one box set anyway.

[Love Boat: The seasons when Julie was on the show.[/QUOTE]

While I would be thrilled to have the entire Love Boat series on DVD, I would probably stop after Fred Grandy (Gopher) and Lauren Tewes (Julie) were no longer on. I definitely think the show should have been cancelled before The Love Boat Mermaids ever showed up.
As it is, I've already bought the first season Volume 1, and am definitely buying whatever else becomes available...if they would just get beyond season 5 on DVD, I'd be really happy. At this point, I just hope they get beyond the first season.
