J.J. had no choice. He was the oldest but it made more sense for a brother to share his room with his fellow brother, than for Thelma to not have her own room. She was a girl and she needed her privacy. Guys can share a room and not be bothered by things like that.
My two daughters share a room, they always have. My son has his own room.

Well, they didn't have a choice. They were poor. How many poor families have kids that share maybe 3-4 to a bed and don't have a room? This was no time for J.J. to bicker. Besides, J.J. never seemed to have a problem other than sharing a blanket. What was the age difference anyways? 5 years?

Damn!!! 14 years.
As for the set, it makes sense, to me at least. My daughters are 5 years apart in age, so I can see J.J. and Michael sharing a room. I admit the bed is a different story, but remember, they had no choice, they were poor.
