I thought it was a MSNTV thing but I had trouble watching videos even on my laptop and i'm thinking that's because of Dial-Up?

Is there something I can download in order for the Videos on youtube to play all the way through without stopping?

Down load some money to get DSL Solomon. ;) C'mon, rather than pay for that NBA sports channel, use that money to get DSL.

Irene I'm not looking for the obvious answer, I'm trying to see if there is a way AROUND shelling out more money. So do you know if there is another way??? I want getting DSL to be my LAST OPTION-lol

I really don't think there is a better option Solomon. Dial up just isn't good for things like videos and other high speed stuff.

Seriously, I mean aside from the cost of DSL, what is the hold up in getting it?

I can understand. But maybe you can cut out something else, like what I mentioned. Didn't you say you were paying $400 for cable just to watch NBA games? Maybe that's a man thing to want to watch NBA games, but I can't seriously see paying that much money for a sport when it is obvious DSL is what you could really use.

It's more than YouTube, it just makes for faster internet overall. I remember the days of dial-up...NEVER AGAIN. I can be late paying other things, but DSL is always paid on time. ;)

What is it abt Youtube you are trying to see? Is it that Pointer Sisters music video?

This should work:

1. Copy the url of the video you want to watch. For example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb6ErLPt4t8
You can get the exact url by clicking the arrow that's next to "About This Video" on the right side of each video.

2. Paste the url of the video at www.keepvid.com (http://www.keepvid.com) and download it following the instructions there.

3. Watch the video back using a free FLV player. I like this one:
http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3000-2139_4-10467081.html

Let me know if it works for you. I think the fastest way to download them is using the RealPlayer plugin, but I don't know if that would work with dial-up.

You can let the video fully load, go to your Temp Internet folder. Take the file that's the largest, it'll look like 23,909KB. Select it, copy it and paste it on your desktop. Then you can watch it all day long

It works for me.

there's also downthisvideo.com.. you can download the videos and view them. you need a program like GOM Player, FLV Player, or Wimpy FLV Player to view them on your computer. I prefer keepvid and downthisvideo. Real Player works but I can't scroll and scan through the videos when I play them.

I am a big Facts of Life fan and found out that all the eps are on YouTube. I had dial-up when I learned this and it would take half an hour or more to download each part of the ep. and they're all generally posted in 3 parts so it would take me like a whole day to watch 1 ep. Lets just say I was so glad when i got high speed

Wouldn't downloading all that stuff take a lot of memory/space on your hard drive? I can't imagine downloading a whole bunch of stuff just to watch for a moment, which is what I think Solomon is wanting to do.

He could just delete the files after he's finished watching them. If he wants to save them he can put them on a cd-rom or DVD.

Yeah you go to Internet Options, then Settings, then View Files (which takes you to your Temporary Internet Files), Then find the biggest file.

But before you do this, delete your Internet Temp files (makes it easier to find youtube vid). Then go to youtube, let the Video load. After it loads, do what I stated above.

It's converting these clips to something other than FLV that's a pain. And then it's not very clear once you put it on SVCD. And then I have that issue of the video suddenly not having sound once I play it in a DVD player....

I have a seperate 80 GB hard drive so luckilly I don't really have too much of an issue with that. Thankfully. I also plan on saving a lot of these clips to CDs so I'll have space if I need to make some. I'm the person that likes to download things and keep them forever and ever. lol

Hee! I've been downloading a lot of the FOL eps too as well as a lot of other classic stuff. It's nice to see some of the classic soaps as well as news stuff and vintage commercials. It's great seeing these eps of FOL again since it doesn't seem right now that Sony is gonna get off its tail and release more of the show, and a network hasn't picked up the show.

for keepvid.com (http://keepvid.com):

copy the YouTube URL link into the download box and click "download". the download link will show up in the box below. right click and select "save target as" and type in a filename with the .flv extension included as well (e.g. filename.flv).

downthisvideo.com (http://downthisvideo.com) is even easier

Here's something that's worked for me. Visit www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Find,run&install #77 and "disable" of #91.
#77 alone may be sufficient. #91 alone is insufficient Good luck

I used to phish allll the time during college. Easiest way to get internet access for nothing, of course I felt bad but everyone was doing it so guilt didn't really set in. People in my building didn't even care, they said that they don't mind if people tap into their signal, that's why they don't lock it haha. But in my senior year my building started offering high speed internet for $25 a month so I decided I was too old to steal internet and started being honest. :p

Ummm No, my cousin who lives in another state internet is cheaper than mine and she's with ATT also. That's how I got with ATT she told me about it. So go there and look, you might find something for the same price that you're paying now, but you'll have faster internet.

I know but that's still an increase even though $30 is not bad. I still would be losing $32 a month without a Cola raise or any other additional income so that's why I have to keep everything the way it is right now
