View Full Version : Things that changed during the years
BBCOACHMS 02-22-2008, 05:05 PM As the show began and moved forward there were some conflicting information. One thing that comes to mind is Lamont's middle name. In the episode where he is to get married, Rev Tremble calls his full name as Lamont Grady Sanford and in a later episode it is noted that he doesn't have a middle name. Can anyone think of other things like this during the run of the series?
GARFIELDKOOL 02-22-2008, 10:07 PM A more obvious one would be Lamont and Esther went from hating Donna's guts to actually liking her and feeling sorry for her in the final episode.
casualTs4531 02-25-2008, 10:32 PM the Sanford house upgraded to a touch tone phone (instead of the rotary dial phone they had) by season 6
Seems like I remember there being some conflicting info about how Fred met Elizabeth. In the episode where "Big Money Grip" came out to L.A. and claimed that Lamont was his son, he said that he introduced Fred to Esther FIRST, then Fred met Elizabeth.
But in the episode when B.B. King stopped by, there was no mention of "Grip" and I got the impression that Fred met Elizabeth on his own.
I could be wrong.

cloggedmind 03-21-2008, 06:27 PM The address for the business changed several times during the Sanford series. 4707, 9114, 9215... Did I miss one?
In Gaslight, Fred calls the police to report his own murder () and he gives his address as 9114 South Central, but when the door opens, the numbers are 9215!

In the ep "The Stand-in", Fred feels indebted to Bowlegs because he introduced him to Elizabeth. At the end of the ep, Bowlegs explains that he didn't introduce Fred to Elizabeth, rather, he introduced him to Esther. It was Esther who introduced Fred to Elizabeth!
FredScuttle 05-02-2008, 02:52 PM It's not an incosistancy, but on the earlier ones, whenever Fred says his name to someone, he says it "Fred Sanford...that's S A N F O R D Period"...on later episodes, it's "Fred G. Sanford, and the G is for..." and he says a word that begins with G that fits whatever situation he's in.
CWDogg 05-04-2008, 03:02 AM 1. Fred's best friends: Melvin, then Bubba, then Grady, then back to Bubba
2. Uncle Woodrow
3.Fred was an only child, then he had brothers, then he had a sister, then he had sisters.
4. Fred started his buisness in different years depending on the episode
5. Lamonts buddies, Julio,Rollo,Achu
Chris Billings 05-07-2008, 01:08 PM Wow, 10 points for keen observation! I never noticed this before.

Chris Billings 05-07-2008, 01:13 PM This isn't an example of conflicting info but does reflect a change in fashion.
In the last season, Redd Foxx has much shorter hair, sort of a GQ version of Reddy Freddy. Lamont has shorter hair too.

megamanj2004 05-09-2008, 02:47 AM if you wanna count the banter between Lamont and Fred, then I'll say that Fred seemed to be a little less hard on puttin' down Lamont in later season, although Lamont would be the one starting the put downs on Fred in later seasons.
Also, Lamont's facial hair somewhere changed, too.
The angle and/or shot of Lamont driving the pick-up truck coming in on the opening credits changed slightly, too. And/or maybe the shot of the Sanford place changed slightly also.

I think it's the 5th season when they changed the opening. When he's in the truck (when it shows his name), the shot of him in the drivers seat is different. Also, when Fred sits down to look at the paper, it changed on that opening. They're almost the same though, and you have to really watch them to see the difference ;)
Big Fred Fan 09-03-2008, 12:01 PM I find it interesting that Fred "raised his sister as his own". She doesn't seem that much older than Lamont. Where was Lamont when Fred was raising his sister?
asiy05 02-02-2011, 10:27 PM 1 thing that changed over the years was Lamont. He became less mean than he was when the show began.
