I noticed that I'm not in a big rush to buy shows like martin, and Married with children because Those are shows I watched every single week in it's original run and even used to have them all on tape. Part of the reason I buy tv shows on DVD is for new discoveries and I wouldn;t notice anything new on either one of those DVD's since i used to watch them every week. Now a show like the cosby show I will buy because even though I watched it during it's original run, I was too young to remember everything I saw and too young to record the eps myself.

so anyone find it hard to buy a tv show on DVD that you watched in it's original run.

BTW:I'm not saying i would never buy them I'm just not in a big hurry

Well, that's hard for me to say because I seen waaaaaay so many shows during their original run. 70's Solomon, remember? I have to have my ultimate shows like I LOVE LUCY and FAMILY GUY in full because they are my shows.

I am trying to complete my DALLAS dvd collection. Of course I seen that during its first run and many times in rerun, but still I love the show. I also have on DVD, ROSEANNE, BRADY BUNCH, BARNEY MILLER, S.W.A.T., The White Shadow, etc. too many to list.

I also buy shows that I only seen once because it was only shown once on television, such as an Australian soap opera called PRISONER CELL BLOCK H. I have both of those DVD's.

So, like I said, pretty much other than I Love Lucy, I seen all these shows during their original run.

I'm with you on Lucy! I bought the complete series DVD set in October, but I've only watched the bonus disc so far.

I think there is a difference between buying a series that you've seen over and over again versus one you haven't seen. I have seasons 1-8 of Roseanne, and 5 of them are still covered in plastic. Whereas with my Home Improvement set, I never watched the show during its original run and its nice to watch episodes that you've never seen before on DVD. Home Improvement (seasons 1-7) is my most-watched DVD set hands down.

Several of my Golden Girls sets are still wrapped in plastic, too and I used to watch it all the time on Lifetime. I need to stop wasting my money. Luckily, I got most of my Roseanne sets from DeepDiscount during the BOGO sales.

You are right on the money with that one. There are several episodes that I LOVE from season 2 on Martin and I haven't watched them once on the DVD set I bought. I realize that the show won't be on tv forever, and one day I'll be wishing I'd bought it on DVD, even if its ten years down the line.
