If you were to re-cast M*A*S*H and replace the original actors with modern actors, who would you choose to be each character?

I'll go with the original TV characters

Hawkeye: Jim Carrey (His rubber face, energy and ability to mimic makes him a fine choice for the role)
Trapper: Kurt Russell (No idea why I chose him :lol: )
Col Blake: Ted Danson(A funny guy who "looks" like a serious type, works for me)
Hot Lips: Julia Roberts(In the book, Margaret is described as a former temptress in her early 40s...she was my first thought!)
Frank: Steven Colbert (He seems a bit young for the role but, he'd be perfect as a straight-laced, bible-thumping hypocrite<which he already is on the report :p )
Klinger: ANDY GARCIA(looked up hairy actors on Google, this is what came up! :lol:)
Radar: George Costanza
Dish: Nicole Kidman(Beautiful woman)
General Hammond: Kelsey Grammer(Seems a bit young but, they can age him a bit for the role, he's otherwise perfect as a General commander, whos just a bit quirky ;) )

The hardest one I found to cast is Klinger cause he should be some really hairy guy in a dress and I couldnt really think of anyone :lol:

I would never of though of Jim Carrey as Hawkeye, but that would actually be funny!
I made my choices with the TV version of the show in mind, I think Carrey would be perfect as Hawk, on the other hand, he wouldnt work well as the Hawkeye in the book, or movie :)

I could totally see Ted as Blake! :lol: I think I could see Stephen as Frank. A little hard but doable. Kelsey seems right. Interesting choices Mikado!

Frank: David Hyde-Pierce.....I'm drawing a blank on Father Mulcahy.
Actually, I think David Hyde-Pierce would be THE PERFECT Father Mulcahy, IMHO, not Frank. (High voiced and not too masculine, he totally reminds me of the TV show version of the character)

Hawkeye: Luke Wilson
Trapper: Will Ferrell
Charles: Kelsey Grammer
Hotlips: Patricia Heaton (Dyed hair or a blonde wig)
Radar: Rob Schneider (I can't really think of anybody else.)
Henry Blake: Craig T. Nelson, I also agree that Ted Danson is a good choice.
Colonel Potter: Dan Aykroyd, If you saw I Now pronounce you Chuck and Larry, you'll see why I chose him.

I think Will Ferrell looks like Trapper, but he has a tendency to overdo it when it comes to comedic acting. I could see Craig T. Nelson as Potter, though your point on Dan Aykroyd is well taken.
