I saw certain boxsets like King of Queens on the shelf and can't believe that it would really sell. There is no bigger fan of the Jeffersons than me and I would never pay $279 fot the entire Boxset. Mainly because I'm not BUILT like that financially-lol

anyone on here ever purchase an entire boxset?

Last Christmas (2006) my wife got me the M*A*S*H boxset.

She bought it on eBay and got a pretty good price. Then the seller, who had a very good rating, suddenly disappeared. He stopped shipping and started getting lots of negative feedback.

My wife had to go back to eBay and buy ANOTHER set.

She wound up getting back most of her money from the first purchase, because she has some kind of Paypal or eBay insurance policy. Still, I think the whole deal wound up costing over $200.00.

Then again, if I could get the 17 episode, single season of Mr. Terrific (1967) for even $300.00, I'd gladly pay it. (And I'm not made of money either.)

What I find funny about these complete series sets is that they are supposed to be priced less, but yet shows like Friends and Sex And The City go on sale so frequently and so cheap that it'd save a bundle if you just bought the season sets instead of the big box set. Friends sets usually go on sale for $15-20 all the time, the big box set goes for $230-250 at Best Buy

I'm surprised the boxsets make money because I always thought fans of a show buy seasons of a show as they are released individually

it all depends on what you are paying for it; I bought the Six Feet Under boxset for $114.99 when it was on sale - the SRP for it is $279.

for that sort of thing I just wait for a really good price, you CAN save money buying complete boxsets, if you are careful.

I do know some people who won't buy certain shows until the whole series is released because they don't want an incomplete collection. My ex did that with Friends

I actually got this on sale for $140, which is a pretty good price (about $15 per season). I have bought complete series sets but the most expensive one I bought was Seinfeld which was $170.

I wait for Christmas to come around, then someone you love buys the boxsets for you. ;) That's how I got my I LOVE LUCY and FAMILY GUY boxsets. I wanted King of Queens but I either have to buy that myself (and yes! I would pay the money for it) or wait til my birthday or Christmas to ask for it and get it.

I started out buying "Martin" on DVD but stopped after season 2 because I believe that they will release a complete series set. HBO is pretty good about releasing their series on DVD, and I'm hoping that they'll even release the series on Blu-ray.

They are up to season 4 (out of 5) released already.

I don;t think I'm in a rush to buy Martin because of the fact i watched it during it's original run

I like to watch Martin on TVOne once in a while. I don't think I would get it on DVD though. I have so many shows on DVD that are not complete, so that is my priority, to get those shows complete. I only have three seasons of the Jeffersons, I need to finish that too.
