maybe that was eddie's type. But you do bring up a good point all of them were light skin-lol I guess that's a question for the creator of the show or the producer

BTW: That's my type of woman and always has been which is uncontrollable

Is it because Eddie is not attractive and the producer/creator wanted to justify only light skinned women for Eddie-for 9 seasons? lol:crazy:  :happyface

You know, I noticed that too, all his women were light skinned. I think the reason is because the writers were white like the Cosby Show, and the show had white appeal, and they wanted to cast characters that the crossover cast could grasp with. So instead of bringing in a really dark skinned girl, they bring in these light skinned characters because in the white writer's eyes, anything close to white is beautiful.

I know ya'll will jump on me for that, but that is just how it is.

GarfieldKool is speaking the truth about the writers and producers of these shows that cast actresses. The same thing happens with movies. Lightskin black women get more parts in movies and tv shows than darkskin black women and i've read articles about this in Ebony and Jet magazines. Darkskin actresses complain often about how hard it is for them to get parts in movies and tv shows because the writers, producers, directors seem to only want lightskin cute women which isn't right because there's some darkskin actresses that are cute. I prefer lightskin black women myself. I've always been attracted to them more than darkskin women. Mari Morrow used to be one of Eddie's women on Family Matters. I don't know what her name was on the show but i've always liked Mari. She is so hot. She was in How To Be A Player movie with Bill Bellamy and Bernie Mac. She also had a small part in National Security movie with Martin Lawrence.

If that was true the Winslows would have been light skin too wouldn't they?

Harriet and Carl are not portrayed to be hot and sexy. Nor any other TV couple. So it didn't matter about the parents. It DID matter for Eddie's girlfriends though.

I´ve heard that before...that light skinned black women are hired less than lighter skinned one.....but....I never found Eddie himself light-skinned....but maybe it was different for men....It´s over here in Germany, too...when a black character is in a movie or a series...then they are usually lite-skinned....but then it makes sense...because a lot of mixed heritage kids over here....

I never really payed attention to Eddie's girlfriends' color, actually. Many of them were light skinned, now that I think of it but not all of them. In the big black book episode, there were a variety of shades there.

As for the gravitation toward light skin, well just look at this board and other boards about Family Matters. Most people are saying they think Maxine and Myra are prettier than Laura, and they both just so happen to be lighter than her. I'm not saying its not a coincidence, but IMO their faces aren't any particularly cuter than Laura's.

Myra was cuter than Laura in every way. It has nothing to do with skin color though.

Like I've said, I think Judy is cutest and she has dark skin.

So if Myra was Laura's skin color, you'd feel the same way?? Be honest.

Like I said, it has nothing to do with who's the darkest. It has to do with who's best suited for Steve, and that wasn't Laura.

I was talking about their looks, not their characters.

And I said, that looks doesn't have anything to do with it (even though I find Myra prettier than Laura).

Well a lot of people tend to say choose the lighter skinned character based on that alone, no matter what they look like, that's why I asked.

Laura was the most sought after girl on the show and she was dark brown. Myra was second rate and she was light skinned.
