Why does it seem that most of the 80's sitcom theme songs have saxaphone solos? I know you hear saxaphones in alot of other era themes but it seems like the 80's was the big time for them to me...whats up with that?

It was a marker of "urban rock" then. Sophisticated, gritty, and all that. And like all trends, overused and worn out.

Saxophones and trumpets seems to have been really popular back in the 80s. You hear those instruments very clearly too, when you listen to the pop songs from that decade.
