DETAILS

- This project is in the very early stages of development, as a script has yet to be written.
- Plans are to hire a writer once the strrike finally ends.
- It's unlikely that Robert Englund will return as "Freddy Krueger," since Platinum Dunes is attempting to "re-invent" the series and start fresh.
- Once again this is a "re-imagining" of the original film, with hopes of giving the story a complete "overhaul."
- Platinum Dunes (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Friday the 13th remake) is behind this.
- The franchise was also turned into a television series that ran for two seasons from 1988 to 1990, where Freddy played host to a collection of strange tales.
- The original film spawned seven sequels, including Freddy vs. Jason in 2003.
- No relation to the Nightmare on Elm St. prequel that's supposedly "in talks" right now, although, I wouldn't be surprised if the two projects blended together.
- A remake of the original 1984 Wes Craven film starring Robert Englund as the iconic Freddy Krueger.

This movie will good like T.C.M and Halloween remake. The Halloween remake was a version in which Rob Zombie wanted to do and T.C.M was a hollywood remake. If Robert Englund can't become Freddy for the 9th time, then I belive they should get Calvin Murphy or whomever played Scarecrow in the Batman movie. His face would be super scary looking.

SoreLoser lol you are so right lol
I have to admit, i liked the reinvisioning of Halloween, because they werent setting out to REDO the film they were just showing a different take of events. But i do hope they make the right choice for freddy in this film AND no doubt with the technology these days they are going to think of EXTREMELY creepy dream sequences lol

Even if you all whine that it's gonna suck, you are going to be curious about it and watch it anyways... And if you do,their job is done... babies

No true fan of horror could ever condone such a remake...Especially from Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes bull****...I agree that Nightmare On Elm Street as a franchise is badass and has endless potential...But only under the right people...Modern hollywierd has no intentions of making quality cinema...

what whiners you guys are. this has potential to be badass... and im glad robert englund isnt doing it.. the guys sucks at acting... i mean come on, remember hatchet? was that an oscar worthy performance? no... leslie vernon? horrible in it. if this is done right, it could be as good or better than the halloween remake... stupid bitches.

i know that it sucks that Robert Englund wont be coming back as Freddy, but lets not judge the remake so soon. We dont know who will direct it and who will play Freddy. Judge it when we found out who will, judge it even more when the trailer comes out and finally judge it on opening night. Who knows maybe they can get Robert Englund to direct it. If he does, this wont suck at all.

Yes, i AM VERY EXITED TO HEAR THAT IT IS BEING REMADE AND ALL BUT, I THINK THE DIRECTOR HAS NO OTHER OPTION THEN TO USE ROBERT ENGLAND BECAUSE WITHOUT HIM THERE IS NO FREDDY. HE EVEN SAID IN THE COMMENTARY OF F VS. J HE IS ALL GAME FOR BEING FREDDY . LET'S FACE IT THE MAN WILL ALWAYS BE HIM. SO COME GUYS GIVE THE ROLE TO HIM HE DESERVES IT.

that's it... I quit. I'm never watching another horror movie again. Why bother? In 10 years, it'll just be remade and I can watch it then. Have we really lost all imagination in hollywood? My friends and I come up with horror plotlines all the time, and all we get to see is remakes of classics. I'm getting a little bitter...

its official: Robert Englund WILL NOT be Freddy! Just found out and it makes me hate this **** even more! There is NO ****ING WAY you can remake or reimagine ELM ST! Freddy is one of kind! I hope they get Jim Carey do be Freddy! That would be great for such a steaming pile of crap this movie will be!

I agree. This is something I can't see being remade. It's not like Halloween or Friday the 13th where it doesn't matter all that much who plays Michael Myers or Jason. Robert IS Freddy.

I'll give it a shot! The special effects were cool 23 years ago, so I can only imagine what they can do with the movie today. This is a horror flick, not Gone With The Wind.

I am surprised they;re continuing to remake the horror classics of the 70's and 80's. I mean, Halloween was almost universally trashed as a piece of garbage compared to the original. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the only remake that has been seen as being in a league with the original, and that's mainly because it actually was scary, as opposed to the original which was almost like a campy comedy.

Yeah, I wish they would leave these classic films alone. Halloween was awful. I liked Texas Chainsaw, but I personally don't think of it as a remake, but just another film in the series. None of them really relate to each other, except for the two new ones.

Halloween would've been good if they made it a prequel. Zombie completely screwed with the franchise, and what the hell was he thinking for killing Dr. Loomis off? Plus, with Zombie's obsession with white trash, he completely white trashed everyone in Halloween as well
