View Full Version : How many seasons were The Jetsons on ABC Scoobiedoo30 02-07-2008, 03:04 PM I was wondering how long were The Jet's on ABC Zoneboy 02-07-2008, 03:06 PM The original run was one season 1962-63 with 24 episodes Scoobiedoo30 02-07-2008, 03:14 PM The Jetsons only lasted 2 season's tv star collector 02-07-2008, 06:49 PM The Jetsons originally aired, in prime-time, Sunday nights on ABC from Sept. 23, 1962 until September, 1963. Repeats were then shown on Saturday morning on all three major networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC), between 1963 and 1981. New episodes were aired in first-run syndication, in September 1984. Remarkably, all the original cast returned for the new series. A final batch of new episodes was aired during the 1987-1988 season, comprising a total of 50 new episodes. The original cast got together, one final time, for the made-for-TV movie "The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones," which aired in first-run syndication in 1987. Most of the cast also reprised their original roles for the big-screen theatrical feature "Jetsons the Movie," in 1990. Among the missing: the late Daws Butler (Elroy), who had been replaced by Patric Zimmerman; and Janet Waldo (Judy), who was replaced by pop singer Tiffany. The latter was a subject of some controversy among fans. Janet Waldo had recorded all her dialogue and was then dumped for the youthful teen idol. The feature only grossed $5 million during the first weekend of its release. The film's settings and vehicles were designed using advanced computer animated techniques (a portent of things to come). Trivia note: "Jetsons the Movie" turned out to be the final film for both George O'Hanlon (George) and Mel Blanc (Cosmo Spacely). O'Hanlon passed away on Feb. 11, 1989, three days before his 36th wedding anniversary. Mel Blanc died July 10, 1989. His tombstone has the inscription: "That's All Folks!" comedyfreak 02-08-2008, 10:39 AM I remember being livid upon learning that Janet Waldo's voice was being replaced and I didn't bother going to see the movie. Scoobiedoo30 02-08-2008, 04:07 PM I did not know that Janet Waldo's Voice was replaced. TV Knowledge Fan 02-13-2008, 09:39 PM ...if "THE JETSONS" hadn't been scheduled opposite NBC's "WALT DISNEY'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF COLOR" and CBS' "DENNIS THE MENACE" on Sundays, there would have been a second season on the network. The repeats were on virtually every network and in syndication for years. Their poularity with baby-boomers was the catalyst that encouraged Hanna-Barbera to produce 41 new episodes in 1985-'86, and 10 more in the fall of 1987... :tv: |
