The mellow 1960s still clash with the conservative 1980s in the "generation gap" comedy Family Ties. But by Season Three, the Keatons of Ohio finally agree on one thing - their joy at the birth of baby brother Andrew! The hit series gives us the funniest season yet as Elyse (Meredith Baxter Birney) tells Steven (Michael Gross) she is pregnant, and the family suffers through food cravings, Lamaze classes, and Elyse going into labor on television during Pledge Week! Plus, Alex (Michael J. Fox) starts college, Mallory (Justine Bateman) gets a job she is actually good at, and Jennifer (Tina Yothers) discovers boys! Now with the new baby around, no one minds being bound by Family Ties!

That's a great review, TJ. I've been meaning to buy a season of Family Ties and maybe this is the one that I'll get. I've always thought that the show really got good after Alex started college. The seasons when he and Mallory were both in college were the best, I think.

The episode "Here We Go Again" is edited. The part where Alex, Steven and Elyse sing "I'm a Little Teapot" is cut. There's also a little dialogue cut right before they start singing where Elyse and Alex talk about what his favorite song was when he was a baby. About 30 seconds total is cut. This scene takes place right before Mallory and Jennifer enter the kitchen and Mallory says to Jennifer "it's going to be a long 9 months" towards the end of the episode.

There is no reason or an excuse why any of the shows of Family Ties should have to be cut.None at all.We are talking DVD's here, and nobody usually cuts out scenes on DVD's.This is a poor excuse, and I would like to know why?

I just hope they don't cut off At This Moment on the Season Four release.

I requested this from the library. I can't wait to see Alex breaking the lamp with the football and the kangaroo in the living room.

I know I'm really late on this, but I just bought & watched season 3 this past weekend. Back in the day, this was my favorite show. Before I watched over the weekend, I hadn't watched FT in yrs. I probably knew this back at some point, but as I'm seeing season 3 again, I never realized how little Meredith Baxter Birney was shown in this season. She was either pregnant & upstairs or out of town. I'm wondering if she really was pregnant in real life back at the time they were filming this season which is why they didn't didn't show her much.
BTW, I didn't buy seasons 1 or 2. I liked the show better as they got older.

Yes, Meredith was pregnant with twins in real life and that's why she wasn't in many episodes that season.
