I meant to make this thread yesterday.....

Yesterday (Feb 3rd) was the 49th anniversary of the 1959 plane crash that took the lives of JP Richarson (AKA The Big Bopper), Ricardo Valenzuela (AKA Ritchie Valens) & most tragic of all, Charles Hardin Holley (AKA Buddy Holly).
This was the first plane crash that took the life of a major rock & roll star, but, it would not be the last. Hard to believe that Buddy Holly, who was just 22 at the time, would now be 71, were he still alive!

Very sad! There was a small article in the local paper about it, sort of a little history section.

It's interesting that the tour Poster says Buddy Holly and the Crickets, since the Crickets were back in Lubbock (The group had actually broken away from Buddy a few months earlier; Buddy had a new band with him composed of Tommy Alsup and Waylen Jennings on rythm and Bass guitars (All the bands shared a "support drummer" on the tour.....when he got sick, Buddy actually took over drumming chores on one gig)
