View Full Version : How Would You Feel If Hollywood Decides To Do A "Lucy" Movie?
JamesG 02-03-2008, 09:31 PM Personally, if they ever say that they will try to remake "Lucy" for the big screen I hope they get hit by a bus. They ruined Bewitched and they definitely ruined The Honeymooners with that garbage movie. I also have the feeling the I Dream Of Jeannine movie they have been talking about is not going to be any better.
STAY AWAY FROM LUCY!! Do not even attempt it!! Anyone agree?
InspectorExstead 02-04-2008, 04:25 AM diiiiiiitto.
you just can't mess with a classic like i love lucy.
Mikado 02-04-2008, 06:12 AM I think they know better than to make a "Lucy" movie WITHOUT Lucy...............but, then again, they DID remake Laurel & Hardy a few years back 0.o !!!!
Kazza 02-04-2008, 08:21 AM If they are to be the same way the tv movies were made; they better stay away from the idea.
PolarCub75@aol.com 02-04-2008, 09:56 AM The ONLY way I'd like to seen an I Love Lucy Movie and the ONLY way I'd like to see if an I Love Lucy Movie is if it's done with Suzanne Larusch, who in my opinion is the BEST Lucy impersonator there is. She has been doing Lucy for over 15 years and was on The Next Best Thing! There are also a a couple of really wonderfully talented Vivian Vance/Ethel Mertz impersonators, as well as an awesome/amazing Desi Arnaz/Ricky Ricardo & William Frawley/Fred Mertz impersonators.
SPLAIN 02-04-2008, 10:19 AM I also thought the two Lucy tv movies were bad, and there was talk of a big screen one with Julia Roberts playing Lucy years ago, but that's all ended now. I also agree that they always ruin the subject matter, even remakes of regular movies suck, look at what they did to Yours Mine and Ours. So you can imagine what they would do to the greatest tv show of all time.
comedyfreak 02-04-2008, 10:45 PM They don't need to do anymore they've already did two.
SPLAIN 02-05-2008, 10:03 AM Yeah, but those TWO were lousy so it would be great to see a good one for a change.
Bill S. 02-05-2008, 03:50 PM If this idea is even so much as proposed, I'll be the first one there with a picket sign. After that poor excuse for a Honeymooners movie, I just can't bare to see another great series treated like that. Could you imagine who they'd get to star in it? With Hollywood these days, we might end up getting Jackie Chan as Ricky.

REVIEW OF "I LOVE LUCY, THE MOVIE"
Well, after a 2 year wait, it's finally here, the big screen version of small screen classic that started it all, I love Lucy. Of course the story has been modernised with a few minor changes:
Newlywed couple Ricky and Lucy Wong (Jackie Chan & Britney Spears) both dream of a career in show business and see their chance when Ricky gets a gig as a Chinese acrobat in the NY version of Cirque du Soleil; the movie is mainly about how he schemes and backbites his way up the ladder to become lead acrobat despite his ditzy blonde wife who spends all her time stoned and trying to sleep her way to the top; forgetting to tell her husband that she's pregnant. (The climax of the movie is the part where she bribes special guest star Kevin Federline (playing himself) to RAP "we're having a baby" to her husband, just as he's about to do the biggest acrobatic stunt of his career.)
Soon the couple moves into an apartment owned by retired couple Fred & Ernie Mertz (John Goodman & Ted Danson) who were once big stars on the gay cabaret circuit , famous for doing their impressions of Lucille Ball & Shelly Long, respectively. The 4 develop a fast friendship, until a 52 inch wide screen HD TV comes between them.
2hrs42mins Rated R for violence and language

You forgot the punchline though. After the birth of Ricky and Lucy Wong's Child, Ricky says in the Chinese accent that Lucy loves to mock, "You know two Wong's don't make it white."

LMAO @ all of that being associated with I Love Lucy. That's hilarious! Let's just hope some desperate screenwriter doesn't come across this thread though...

Yeah.. with them all being on strike Hollywood might be really desperate for ideas. We better get screen credit at least.

Throw in a couple Habs tickets and I'm there! ;)
SPLAIN 02-07-2008, 10:07 AM Throw in a couple Habs tickets and I'm there! ;) Haven't been able to get any in YEARS now, some things NEVER change. But my offer for some Lucy things still stands though, LOL! Where do YOU live again?
Mikado 02-08-2008, 01:03 AM Niagara Falls area  I went to see them in the Forum a long time ago, they won 7-6 on an OT goal!
desilu #1 02-10-2008, 10:00 AM No! They need to leave Lucy alone! As you all said before they screwed up the re-made classics to the point of nausea! Look at what they did to the Leave It To Beaver movie as well. They didn't even stick with the correct era for "Corn Sakes"! Beaver with a computer. GMAFB! UGH! They will just screw it all up and Lucy deserves better!
Mikado 02-10-2008, 03:42 PM They didn't even stick with the correct era for "Corn Sakes"! Beaver with a computer.
Yeah, the new get Smart has Max as a puter geek....WHAAAA???? Max couldnt pronounce "computer", never mind USE one!!!
PolarCub75@aol.com 02-10-2008, 04:07 PM I'd love to see it done if Lucy's relatives were behind it and in on it, like or any big hardcore Lucy fan. I'd also like to see any or the surviving cast and crew members involved.
PolarCub75@aol.com 02-10-2008, 04:13 PM They should pick a year in the 1950s and shouldn't use anything after the year that they chose. Here's another question, if ans when they decided to film the movie, what would you like to see it in, color or black and white? I think if and when it ever did get made and got released onto DVD, that could be an option, like on the Lucy's Lost Moments DVD, where they give you a choice to either watch the color feature or the black and white feature.

If they wanted to make a biography type movie about Lucy, Desi, Fred & Viv and how the show came about, that would be acceptable (So long as they used the facts, not a lot of made up stuff (as in the Buddy Holly Story<A total pack of lies), but, NEVER make the show itself into a movie, NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
SPLAIN 02-11-2008, 11:48 AM I always envisioned a ten part series on PBS, God knows Lucy and the gang had enough material for something that involved. One part could deal with each subject. Personal life, tv pioneers, seperate careers, volume of work, Desilu studios, friends and family and the dreaded END of marriage and end of life for both.
Mikado 02-11-2008, 11:06 PM :yeahthat Sounds good to me
SPLAIN 02-12-2008, 10:46 AM Ok, i'll get right on that then, LOL! Actually, Forever Lucy, that great PBS documentary on her was excellent, so they should start with that and then add Bravo's DESILU documentary and build from there . . .
