We blasted through four episodes (season 1) last night, and what a show! I am hooked big time. Michael C. Hall looks so different than he did on Six Feet Under. I never thought of him as particulary handsome on Six Feet Under, but I think he's a doll on Dexter.

Great casting. I love his sister, girlfriend, co-workers, and I really enjoy the flashbacks with his Dad. The writing is incredible, and I LOVE the narration. I'm a huge fan of narrated movies or tv shows. I love his character, and I'm rooting for him. John, thank you so much for the recommendation. I never would have ordered it off Netflix had it not been for you. I'm just glad they have it. It's one of the best shows I've seen in quite a while. :)

We just finished watching episodes 5 through 8. This show just keeps getting better and better. We're at the part now where Rita's husband just got out of jail. He's showing signs of madness, but I'm sure there's more to follow. Don't tell me John, lol.

That storyline with the psychiatrist who was driving his female patients to suicide was really something, very clever. The look on his face when Dexter told him he was a serial killer was Mastercard Priceless! :lol:

The other story about the couple who was smuggling and killing illegal immigrants was gruesome. It's hard to maintain that balance of like-ability for Dexter, for me anyway. I mean, he does take pleasure in killing these people, even though they are the scum of the earth. Dexter was one crazy teen.

My husband called it with his sister's new boyfriend. Just a little too convenient with the the prosthetic career, and the nature of the killings. Speaking of which, that poor guy who was getting killed limb by limb. :eek: This show is not for the faint of heart.

Love the opener, even though it's sort of sickening with the eggs and those closeups. That music is fantastic. I love all the characters, and even Doakes kills me, lol. I love when Angel enters a scene. Ditto for Lt. Maria Laguerta.

Also, it's different to see Dexter having love scenes with a woman. It's new territory for me. For five years, it was David and Keith on Six Feet Under. On this show, I have to remind myself that Dexter isn't gay. I guess that's what typecasting is all about. With each passing episode, I think of it less, which speaks to Michael C. Hall's talent as an actor. He's fantastic, and is doing incredible things with this role. Has he been nominated for anything?

Just got episodes 9 through 12 in the mail, so it looks like another Dexter marathon tonight. :)

I've got the second season of Dexter! I have Comcast On Demand, and saw that it had all the shows, but with a Showtime subscription. My husband called Comcast, and asked for a deal to try Showtime for a month. We got it for the month for $11. Love it. :)

Does it ever, lol. Debra narrowly escapes with her life. I'm halfway through the second season now. Deb is starting to get on my nerves lately. The actress tends to over-act. She swears too much. I have nothing against profanity, but it's overkill and not realistic. She walks into the police room, yelling the f bomb. Almost every word out of her mouth is a swear.

I love Rita and Maria. That was something how Maria slept with her replacement's fiance to get her job back. :lol: Dexter's sponsor, Lila, is something else. Too funny. Looks to me like they'll be doing the horizontal tango soon, lol. I'm at the part where Dexter beat up the guy in the bar who killed his mother. Something tells me he's not done with him, lol.

The entire story is well-layered and full of surprises. Dexter's father had more secrets than the CIA. He knew Dexter's mother. The flashbacks to that bloodbath where his mother and friends were killed, are just are terrible.

I stayed up until 7 o'clock this morning watching Dexter. :lol: It's like eating potato chips, I can't stop. I kept telling myself, just one more episode, lol. I've got two episodes left to finish off Season 2. Dexter has Doakes locked up now. Lila is wigging out on Angel, and I think she killed herself, but she probably survived. I'm going to miss the show so much.

The first season and first book followed the same events, but Dexter lets his brother go because it's his blood instead of killing him like in the show. Season 2 is a totally different path than the book series though, the bodies have never been discovered in the books.

I'm not much of a reader these days, but thanks for the info. As for Doakes, as much as he drove me crazy, I didn't like seeing him die. I thought his character brought a lot to the show, and I'll miss him. I also don't think he deserved to die. Even Dexter couldn't bring himself to kill him.

I finished both Seasons, and loved them. I look forward to Season 3. I think the show is going to become very popular since it's on CBS. It's a show that's almost impossible not to like. It's done very well. I am Dextered out though, lol.

there may be a shot that Doakes is not dead after all, the actor is still signed on as a cast member for the third season I heard. Of course, that doesn't really mean much since James Remar is as well and his character was dead long before the first episode took place. Maybe he'll be haunted by visions of Doakes or something. Personally, Doakes made such a good foil for Dexter that it seemed too easy to just get rid of him like that

I'm glad to hear it. I've been watching seasons 1 and 2 weekly this year so I'm stretching it out. I have 2 more season 2 episodes to watch. I'm at the point where Dexter has Doakes locked up and that stalker girl of his is going to claim that Angel used the date rape drug on her. I can't wait to see how it all turns out. I intend to do the same next season only with seasons 3 and 4. That way I get to watch 24 episodes a season. The only thing I know about season 3 is that Doakes is gone and Jimmy Smits is in the cast. :lol:
