The producer of "The View," Bill Geddie, called Kathy Griffin to tell her she wouldn't be allowed to appear on the talk show Tuesday, which had been scheduled in conjunction with her final show in New York, which had sold out.

She wasn't a happy camper about it, to say the least. Talking to New York Post's Page Six, Griffin said, "I was supposed to be on The View (today). But then I get a call from (producer) Bill Geddie, and he says, 'You were too mean to Barbara on your last special, so you can't come on.' Can you believe it? I've been banned before but never re-banned!"

After Rosie O'Donnell had been kicked off the show, Griffin had replaced her, but was also let go, with speculation her making fun of Walters was the reason behind it.

I guess Barbara likes to hand it out, but doesn't like to take it. Oh well, that's show biz.

Perhaps Kathy Griffin was bitter that she didn't get the View job. Anyway, I don't think it was that big of a deal for her to be banned.

Kathy has been making jokes about The View for years. Unless she went way over the top this time, I'm not sure what Barbara's issue is.

BTW, The Price is Right's been on the air for 36 years and is killing The View in that 10:00am (or 11:00am) time slot in other markets.

I find it funny that Barbara would boot Kathy from The View when she hired Rosie just so **** would go down. Come on, The View gets it's best ratings when they're fighting and cussing each other out and cutting each other off. Why would Kathy be too much for it?

I think that after the Rosie debacle, Barbara just wants a peaceful and calm show, even if she takes a hit in ratings. She's always had this prim and proper demeanor, and most likely sees her show as a reflection of herself, as she should. So, she's probably fed up with big mouths, and wants a more dignified show. That Jerry Springer format wasn't her style. Not that The View ever got that bad, but it took a turn for the worse with Rosie, which is why she's not there anymore. It's not always about ratings with some. Some value quality over ratings.

I believe the special that Kathy did that Barbara is referring to is STRAIGHT TO HELL, which aired in November on Bravo TV. Kathy poked at celebs like Paris and included Barbara Walters and The View. I seen on YouTube they have the whole show available in parts (part one, part two and part three). Here is what the NY Post said abt it then:

Tonight, in her new one-hour performance special - titled "Kathy Griffin: Straight to Hell" - she laces into one celebrity after another for no particular reason other than the fact that, if she didn't, she'd have no act.

So, in the course of 60 minutes, she calls Paris Hilton "********" and a "whore."

She describes William Shatner as "a red-faced, bloated, booze bag" and Paula Abdul as a

However, while she receives an enthusiastic standing ovation when she comes on-stage at the beginning of this show, the reactions of the audience inside the Chicago Theater, where this performance was filmed, seem to grow more tepid as the hour wears on.

I have no idea how they felt watching and listening as Griffin stood in contemptuous judgement of people who weren't on hand to defend themselves, but watching a preview DVD of this performance was such an excruciating experience that I found myself praying for a natural disaster to occur that would give me an excuse for aborting this assignment.

Basically, Griffin's act consists of telling stories about her own alleged hijinks - at the non-televised portion of the Emmy Awards, backstage at "The View," or at this or that Hollywood get-together.

The stories in this special are barely interesting enough to sustain a 15-minute standup routine, much less a full hour.

Moreover, I would swear on a stack of Bibles that I'd heard at least some of this material before, perhaps even in Griffin's last Bravo special - which means Bravo has been dipping into the Griffin well so often lately that it appears to be drying up.

Some people go for that humor. I never did. I never liked Don Rickles, even as a kid. Being funny at someone else's expense just isn't for me. They all do it, but some of them, that's ALL they do. Hate sells. Not for anything, but who the hell is Griffin to rag on anyone. Let's face it, she's got a face that only a mother could love, and only on payday. Imagine that horseface without makeup. Now I sound like her, lol. She is one hateful person.

I liked Kathy a lot when she was on Suddenly Susan, I thought she was hilarious, and then I watched her first Bravo stand-up special a few years ago and the whole thing was Anna Nicole Smith jokes (she wasn't dead yet) and a few other random celebrities she had run-in's with. I think a stand-up comic who might make a crack or two about another celebrity they met is funny, if there's a bigger joke involved (like Margaret Cho has said hilarious things regarding Bette Midler and Woody Allen and others, but it was a side-joke to what she was talking about), but Kathy's act was nothing but bashing other celebrities. She wonders why she's on the D-list, it's because of the bridges she burns.

She was talking about sitting and chatting with the cast of the View in the dressing room backstage. Apparently the favorite topic, according to Kathy, is vaginal dryness. She felt like they were going on and on about how dry it got "down there" after a certain age and Barbara Walters was trying to prepare Kathy for the upcoming reality. Kathy, being, well, Kathy, remarked to Barbara in an attempt to get her all hot and bothered, "You know Barbara, I'm not opposed to using a little KY jelly." To which Barbara promptly retorted, "Oh Kathy, I prefer Astroglide!"

Yes, there have been many comedians who have been raunchy and racy, talking smack abt famous people, but they don't do it throughout their whole routine. It just gets stupid after awhile to hear abt Paris this and Paris that. Ok Kathy, we get it, you hate Paris. Yes, it was Nathan Lane who made that joke, it was really funny, and Barbara actually laughed about it too. You can see it here (http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview/video). I believe it was The View's E! True Hollywood Story I was watching the other day and I was amazed at how much Barbara Walters has done in her lifetime, so I admire her a lot and still think she's relevant and interesting. I watch The View every day and I think part of the fun in watching it is due in part to Barbara - you never know what might happen that everyone will be talking about the next day!
