LOS ANGELES—One of the victims of avalanches in the San Gabriel Mountains is being remembered as a lover of nature who was passionate about backcountry skiing.
Veteran character actor Christopher Allport was one of three skiers killed Friday by avalanches near Mountain High ski resort in Wrightwood.
Longtime friend Jordan Roberts says Allport, of Santa Monica, had skied in the area many times before without incident.
Roberts says the 60-year-old Allport "was a tremendously conscientious skier. He was never, ever reckless."
Allport had appeared on dozens of TV shows, including "ER," "Felicity" and "Matlock."
Roberts says Allport leaves behind two sons, 11-year-old Mason and Andrew, who is in his twenties.
