did anyone who watched it; find out anything they didn't know before? I did; even though I already knew a lot! I found out that: when Jack Parr walked off of "THE TONIGHT SHOW" while it was on the air in 1961 (he didn't like the fact that NBC had cencored one of his jokes) he was gone for 6 weeks and noone knew where he was. Also, he was thinking of not coming back; but Jonathan Winters talked him into it.
After Steve Allen left as host in 1957; NBC tried out a series of guest hosts before Jack Parr became the host.

"THE HONEYMOONERS" was cancelled because it couldn't stand the competition from "THE PERRY COMO SHOW".

Phyllis Diller made her debut on an episode of "YOU BET YOUR LIFE" with Groucho Marx.

Women didn't host game shows until the 80s.

I was watching this again the other night (I recorded it on my DVR when it first aired) and I got to wondering....
What kinds of shows that they no longer make, do you miss? (for those of you who; like me; remember these formats) I miss Westerns, rural comedies, and the variety shows.

I miss so many....shows like Carol Burnett, Sonny and Cher, all the shows in the era of Donna Reed, Hazel and Father Knows Best, MASH, Airwolf, The Walton's, Reba, Bewitched...okay so there is a pattern here. I loved most of the shows from the 50's-80's and even a few from 90's -2008 but mostly what they offer now is Reality and crime shows, no real entertainment/family shows.
