Adamtium's (Adam's) name is one of two names picked for the SO Interview of the Week!!

Ask Adam anything. And away we go....

My questions:

1. If a genie appeared to you and gave you three wishes, what would those wishes be?

2. If you were stranded on an island forever and could take ONLY ten items and/or people, what/who would you take? Why?

Wow. I get to anwser questions. :)

1. If a genie appeared to you and gave you three wishes, what would those wishes be? *by Swedeace*

Wish #1. I'd wish for every episode of every show ever (even shows from the late 40s and 50s that didn't survive the years) on DVD, with NO music rights issues. I don't know where I'd store them, but I'd love to own them.

Wish #2. I'd wish for a time machine. I wouldn't be able to change anything in the past. Mainly, everything that I do while back there would alter itself to go back to the way it was before I arrived. I'd just like to be able to visit the past and future. I'd mearly like to go back in time to see what everything was like and what all those people looked and sounded like (such as George Washington and others). Plus, I'd get to go back and take a trip to Showbiz Pizza Place and watch the stage!

Wish #3. A new job. A much, much better job. I'm currently a bagger/cleaner at Kroger (in my 7th year). So pretty much any other job. One that I would be happy at. Oh heck, this is a wish. I'd wish to get a hefty income for doing nothing for the rest of my life. That way I wouldn't need to get a job and I could spend my days having a life, going back in time, and watching all those DVDs. :)

2. If you were stranded on an island forever and could take ONLY ten items and/or people, what/who would you take? Why? *by Swedeace*

I'll have to think about this one some more. But I will definitely answer it.

3. What first brought you here to Sitcoms Online? *by Crazy for Blair*
My family had just gotten the internet back. It was gone for a couple years. Anyways, I always searched sitcoms, online. And one day, I came across Sitcoms Online. I lurked for a couple of weeks and finally got the nerve to join and start posting. Oddly enough, my first day here was on the one year anniversary of September 11th. And me, being me, and avoiding sad, despressing news, I chose that day to start typing here.

4. What kind of ART inspires you? *by Mikado*
Well my favorite kind is abstract. I won an award in high school for an abstract painting I did. And had a period where I wanted to be an artist. And because of all that, I've come to appreciate abstract art. However, and this is said in a joking way, because I know it's not what you're talking about, though it's true. But ART Carney has inspired me. I like his Ed Norton character. And he's the reason I've wanted to become a sitcom actor. I'd love to be able to play a Norton-type character in front of a studio audience.

5. Do you think the internet will still be relevant in 20 years? *by Mikado*
I think so. Although thigs are always changing. It was just today I realized that because of the internet I really don't need to buy TV Guide or Entertainment Weekly anymore. But I imagine the internet will still be relevant. If for nothing else, then for Sitcoms Online, lol.

6. what do you see out of the window, nearest to your puter? *by Mikado*
Leaves. I'm in the basement and the window is covered by leaves. There's four mini windows to look out of. And three of those are covered with leaves and the other one, I can look up and see a full moon. And I mean the actual moon, not someone standing outside showing me their butt. ;)

7. Favorite book? *by Family Ties Forever!*
I'm not big on reading. I've always had a problem remembering anything I just read. However, in school, the only book I read because I really liked was "The Pigman." The chapters alternated in who was telling the story, between a boy and a girl. Both of whom had befriended this "pig man."

Although I guess "book" doesn't necessarily mean novel. I also love any kind of TV information book. Like my old Nick at Nite Companion (which sadly I don't have anymore). Just something to read while I'm in the bathroom, lol.

Okay, that's the first batch of questions that were here when I started this post. :)

are you originally from springfield, ohio or did you move there a couple of years ago?
Yep. I'm originally from Springfield. My goal now is to get out of Springfield, but I haven't made it yet.

what is your general view on the state of television today, particuarly in regards to the domination to serial dramas and reality tv and do you think its a bad thing?
I don't like dramas. However, I think the ones out now are just fine. The only thing "wrong" with them is that I'm not a fan of the genre. I hate reality shows with a firey passion. But my younger sister loves them. I don't mind one reality show or two, or even a whole network for reality shows. I mostly hate how they've seemed to take over just about every network there is. They've even worked their way into TV Land, which used to be my place to go to get away from the current stuff I despise. For a while, I hated most sitcoms from this decade. However, lately I've gone back and watched some, and I think a lot of them are okay. I was just being a snob about them. I went through a period in the early 2000s where all the sitcoms I would watch and like would get cancelled after a season or less. So I became resentful of any sitcom that I didn't watch that survived two or more seasons. Shows like "Scrubs", "Reba", "According to Jim", etc. But through the DVDs, I've become a fan of some of this decade's sitcoms.

In the end, I think TV is okay now. I love sitcoms and they're not the #1 genre like they always seemed to have been. And the networks don't give many of their shows a chance to grow, but rather they cut them down after a few episodes. And I hate how the ending credits always get pushed aside for more commercials, and all those network bugs on the screen, not to mention all those promotions during the shows. So I don't like the current state of television, but it's not so much the actual shows as it is the network's treatment of the shows.

as a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an actor. I loved TV back then, and I've always wanted to be on TV. Even through high school, I wanted to be an actor. There was a time when I wanted to be an artist, but actor was my number one dream. To this day, I want to be an actor. But I'm not comfortable enough with my looks, and I'm really shy in person. And a little dumb, that I don't always understand what people mean when they first say it. Like when I watch "behind the scenes" shows, and the director is telling the actors what to do, I think to myself, how I wouldn't understand what the guy is telling me.

But fears and stuff aside, it was certain TV actors that made me sure that I wanted to be a sitcom actor. Some of those actors are Jackie Gleason, Art Carney, Lucille Ball, Jack Klugman-Tony Randall, the cast of NewsRadio, and a few others. And, for the record, in high school, I was the only one who knew that Jackie Gleason was "The Great One." Some of my friends were talking about wrestling and called one of the wrestlers The Great One, and I had to correct them. Of course, they didn't even know who Jackie Gleason was. I have only one friend my age that is interested in shows from the 50s and 60s and so on.

Which 2 tv shows would you have liked to act in? And what type of characters (funny, serious, romantic, hero, etc.) would you want to play?

I'm not sure. I can tell you that it would have to be two sitcoms with studio audiences. Nothing like Full House, where I'd have to have some sappy scenes. I'd like to be the funny one, who may from time to time get serious. But for the most part, be the wacky character. In fact, I'd rather be the Second Banana instead of the star. And I wouldn't want my name to be in the title of the show. That way, if I wanted to leave, it wouldn't force them to end the show. I wouldn't want my career choices to affect all those people. Just replace me and move on with the show.

Do you mean guest star on a show, or actually be a full time character on the show? For guest star, I'd pick "That '70s Show" and "8 Simple Rules."

To be a full time character, I'd like to be some character on "Happy Days." I'd get to work with Fonzie, lol. And also, the replacement for Jeff Conaway on "Taxi." They never really replaced him, so I would be the new cabbie. I can't imagine what my character would be like though. "Taxi" already had two wacky characters (Latka, Jim) a dumb guy (Tony) a comical creep (Louie) and the center character (Alex). I'd play Alex's nephew or something, I don't know.

What is your favorite movie?
I’ll name my top five, in order:
1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2. Ghost World
3. My Girl / My Girl 2
4. Office Space
5. Sideways

Favorite tv show?
My number one favorite show is “NewsRadio.” But I like so many shows from each decade. Including: Wings, Taxi, Ellen, The Odd Couple, Quantum Leap, Sliders, Monk, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Boy Meets World, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Twilight Zone, The Honeymooners, Car 54, Where Are You? and others.

I can’t name just one. ;)

Favorite episode of your favorite show?
Favorite’s always change for me. My ultimate favorite episode of “NewsRadio” is “Smoking.” That’s the one where Dave agrees to quit coffee if Bill will quit smoking. And of course, comedy ensues. But Lately my favorite has become “Public Domain.” While Dave tries to keep his job - which is on the line - Bill goes around the office playing a piano, and Jimmy James shoots a documentary at the office.

Favorite character on of your favorite show?
This is another case of “I can’t pick just one.” I love Bill McNeal (Phil Hartman) and Matthew Brock (Andy Dick). But I don’t think the show would be any good without Dave Nelson (Dave Foley).

What's your dream car?
I don’t have one. I’m not big on cars.

Favorite song?
That’s also something that just changes with my moods. So I won’t pick just one. However, I will say that whatever my favorite song is, I’m sure it’s an oldies tune.

Favorite food?
Pizza. I’m known at work for my love of pizza and television.

Favorite board game?
Clue.

Favorite holiday?
Christmas. Although it’s not at all what it used to be. Christmas is really a holiday for kids. But I still like it the most.

Favorite sport?
I hate sports. Though if I had to, I could watch Basketball.

Do you have a pet, and what's his/her name?
I have five dogs and two cats. But there’s a story. We had Logan since 1998. Then, around 2003 or something, we got a cat named Timmy. Then, in 2007 my Grandma had to give away one of her dogs, Fuzzy, to us. My sister went to school to be a vet tech, and fell in love with a dog at school, that they would use for demonstrations and stuff. She adopted Trixie. My mom went to the pet shop and got a little puppy named Abby. And then my grandma went to a nursing home, and we got her other dog, Sarah and her cat Sassy….

Help me.

Favorite movie actor and movie actress?
Probably Bill Murray. I have a collection of his films on DVD. As for actress, I’ll say Scarlett Johansson and Thora Birch (both from Ghost World).

What kind of a computer do you have?
I don’t have a computer…. Okay that’s a joke, obviously. Because I’m on my computer right now. It says emachines on the front of it.

What's your favorite screen name that you've had on SO?
Well I’ve only had two, TVAdam and Adamantium. But I’d have to say TVAdam. I miss that name, but I just needed a change.

What makes you YOU?
I'd say my love for television, my way of staying out of the drama in life, my nervousness around everyone, and my sense of humor, during the tough times, by not taking anything too seriously. And again, with the television loving. :)

Has anything ever scared the bejesus outta you?
Sure. Everyday, there's a co-worker who's ALWAYS scaring me. I mean any little thing will scare me.

What is your fave horror movie?
I don't really like horror movies. But my favorite would have to have lots of female nudity and, well, that's it. :)

Adamantium
01-29-2008, 05:34 PM
What motivates you?
This may sound weird, but television motivates me. I see all these characters with their lives and it makes me want to go out and have a life, too.

Do you believe in the Paranormal?
I'm not deep into my beliefs on the Paranormal, but I don't doubt it either. So, I guess in one word, "Yes."

If you could be in any band, which one would you choose? And what instrument would you play or would you prefer to be the lead singer?

If you could be in any band, which one would you choose? And what instrument would you play or would you prefer to be the lead singer?

Well, the Rock-Afire Explosion, of course. They were (as I've mentioned before) the animatronic band on stage at Showbiz Pizza Place (now Chuck E. Cheese). Of course the characters on stage have changed, the Rock-Afire Explosion were great! I even have one of their CDs when I (no kidding) joined the Showbiz fan club online.

So, That's it. I would be the human member of that band. Since I can't play any instruments, I would just sing. But if I had to pick one, I'd go for guitar. I've always wanted to learn how to play, but was always too lazy.

And now for some news:

I have decided to leave Sitcoms Online, and this is gonna be my final post.

I just wanted to let everybody know that this place has been a big part of my online life for a little over five years now. I didn't want to make this a separate thread, so I'm just mentioning it here. I wasn't going to say anything, but I have a feeling I would simply be forgotten if I didn't. And I don't want that either. You can still find me on imdb, where I'm known as WesleyWeaver.
