mase1322 01-26-2008, 10:35 PM Heyy everybody. Ive been a member at sitcomsonline and I do a lot of colorization at the Lucy forum and ive colorizied a few Dick Van Dyke show screen caps. Anyways, here they are amd there is more to come:

Also, if anyone has any requests post them here and Ill colorize them.
SawgrassSteve 01-26-2008, 11:41 PM Mase1322,
I love these! They are brilliant! You do very good work. I love the variation in the color of the bricks, the satiny texture of the sofa cushions, and the tweed of Laura's skirt.
I think I'll have to submit some requests to you!
Thanks. :notworthy
Steve
JudgeGarth 01-26-2008, 11:41 PM Hey, those are pretty cool! Thanks!
mase1322 01-27-2008, 12:51 AM Thank you both for your kind words. Here are some more:

SawgrassSteve 01-27-2008, 07:02 PM Truely awesome stuff, mase1322.
I really am very excited to see these. As a kid I often wondered what this show would look like in color. I never realized then that the technology would someday exist for me to see. As an arist, I wondered what a cartoon of this show would look like. You've given me both.
Thanks!
Steve
mase1322 01-28-2008, 04:44 AM Heres a new one. Ill have more soon with Mel and Buddy and Sally and pictures with The Petries and the Halpers. Anways:

Lee G 01-28-2008, 12:12 PM LOL what a blatant act of vandalism. Interesting to see, but it's obviously not genuine because we know it's a black and white show. Are these really supposed to be the right colors? The furniture in the apartment, the carpet on the floor and drapes on the wall, the clothes they wear, are those really the correct colors as they were or did you just guess/make up your own? Some of those colors clash if you ask me. The red chair, green drapes, tan sofa. And that sofa and pillow in the office. Yep, those colors go well together alright. Who was the interior decorator/set designer here? I am perfectly satisfied with the good ol' black and white. Black and white shows have a unique mood to them and they are meant to be seen in their original form. Colorizing the shows just puts a foul spin on the whole thing.
Carrie 01-28-2008, 02:36 PM Those are great mase! Nice work. :) Do you mind if I add these to my photo album over at my website? I see you were able to use some of my screen captures too. Very cool.
I bet Steve would like this one in color. ;)

mase1322 01-28-2008, 03:03 PM You can use them. That is certainly not a problem. Thanks to you I have nice screenshots to colorize. Ill have the one you posted done very soon. Thanks.
Carrie 01-28-2008, 03:41 PM Thanks!
SawgrassSteve 01-28-2008, 04:46 PM I bet Steve would like this one in color. ;)
As Austin Powers would say, "Yeah, baby, yeah!"
LOL
Steve
treky 01-28-2008, 05:05 PM very nice work! Could you show a colorized one of the scene in "IT MAY LOOK LIKE A WALNUT" where Laura comes out of the closet on top of all those walnuts?

Ill have the one with Laura and the walnuts shortly. I know that ones always been a fan favorite.
mase1322 01-28-2008, 06:05 PM To Carrie: Ive also colorized a lot of I love Lucy pictures. The new ones are alot better than my early ones but you can have whatever you want, if youre interested. Theyre over at the Lucy forum. Thanks

treky 01-29-2008, 01:47 AM thanx for those! They're good, but I still wouldn't want to see the entire series in color.
Lee G 01-29-2008, 08:20 AM Those are great mase! Nice work. :) Do you mind if I add these to my photo album over at my website? I see you were able to use some of my screen captures too. Very cool.

This black and white pic is much better and more natural looking than the fake color ones. The color pics are hideous! They are imitation, computer created pictures and you cannot take something originally made in black and white, colorize it via computer and make it look natural.

Thanks, I'll be sure to check those out! Nice job on the new pictures that you've added. They are all available in my image gallery here (http://www.tdvdsonline.net/gallery/index.php?cat=7). :)
mase1322 01-29-2008, 04:57 PM I never said I wanted to see the whole series in color. I just did the pictures for fun. And to Lee G., I would argue with you but arguing on the computer is like competing in the special olympics......well you all know how that one goes.
treky 01-29-2008, 05:30 PM could you also do one of the living room opening, of Rob tripping over the ottoman?
JaneTVFan 02-05-2008, 03:22 AM Think you can do a better job? I thought so. Actually, you just seem very jealous of mase's talents.

Ignore him, he's just trying to get attention. Obviously you do really impressive work. I'm amazed! Someone mentioned the details, like the variation in the colors of the brick in the living room. That really stood out to me as well. These pictures are absolutely stunning and beautiful. If these are colors you're envisioning, you apparently have a very artistic mind. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us.
Lee G 02-05-2008, 10:33 AM Think you can do a better job? I thought so. Actually, you just seem very jealous of mase's talents.
Oh yea, I'm jealous alright. I don't THINK I can do better, I KNOW I can do better. But I am opposed to colorizing black and white shows, especially when images like these are created that are eyesores with colors that clash and don't match.
Lee G 02-05-2008, 10:41 AM Ignore him, he's just trying to get attention.
I don't seek anyones attention, especially not from individuals like you who don't respect other peoples opinions. There are many people like myself who are opposed to colorizing black and white shows. I am on the side of the purists.
mase1322 02-05-2008, 06:51 PM Who the hell let that clown into this forum?????? I just brush off Lees comments. Also since Lee said he could do better Id like to see it. I have enough confidence in my work to know that Lee G. cant produce anything more than insults and even those are subpar.

Yeah, isn't it hilarious. "I can do a much better job . . . but I'm not going to." Actually, Lee is just a troll. He goes from board to board posting rude comments and trying to stir up trouble. So just go ahead and keep up the excellent work, mase. It's much appreciated here.

Giving my opinion about the pictures is not an insult. It is a comment on a material thing. But I believe calling another poster a clown may be considered an insult. Nothing that I do is subpar, but these pictures you've posted leave plenty of room for improvement.

Of course I can do better, but I'm not the one who wants to make the color pictures, mase is. The question is, Can mase do better?? That is what the issue is here.
And it's individuals like the one quoted above who are rude and don't respect others opinions that cause problems. These boards are full of people like this. But that's alright, they don't deter me. My posts are legitimate, if I have a comment or opinion about something I will post it and defend it if someone responds with their nonsense and BS.
mase1322 02-06-2008, 09:21 PM People generally like my work. Youre always so negative. Heres some of my Lucy ones.If Lee doesnt like these then I can honestly say that he has a problem with everything. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f197/mases_basement/lucyandethel.jpg

Lee G 02-06-2008, 10:56 PM I wouldn't say I'm negative. Difficult to please, perhaps. These Lucy pics are a little better, not perfect but better than some of those Dick Van Dyke ones where the colors really clash. Let me just state again that I am strongly opposed to colorizing black and white stuff. But I realize not all are opposed and your effort with the pictures is appreciated.
SawgrassSteve 02-07-2008, 01:30 AM Amazing, Mase1322!
I have to say, I've been impressed with the technological advances in colorization, and how far it has come, but as an artist, I'm equally impressed with your ability to control it.
Wonderful job!
Steve
Carrie 02-07-2008, 09:45 AM I agree! Nice job mase. Your talent, hard work and dedication to our favorite shows is very much appreciated! :)
SawgrassSteve 02-08-2008, 09:48 PM For anyone who is interested, you really should slide on over to Carrie's website to see her collection of TDVDS and ILL, colorized.
It's very nice!

Laugh30 02-09-2008, 01:03 PM Hello, Laugh30 here. I 've been posting my colorized Dick Van Dyke pictures in the photo gallery in the past months. Since Mase has started this thread, let me try posting some here.

mase1322 02-09-2008, 01:15 PM Im glad youre posting your photos, Laugh30. Theyre very nice. Especially the second one. Im getting a new photoshop disc because I lost my old one. Hopefully next week I can start posting photos again.
Carrie 02-11-2008, 09:31 AM Those are wonderful! Thank you for sharing them. :)
Laugh30 02-11-2008, 11:38 AM Thank you, Mase and Carrie.

I agree with you. Not to discredit the person who created them, but I detest colorization, no matter how well it's done. It never, ever looks realistic to me.
Laugh30 02-23-2008, 12:00 PM There's a simple solution, really. If you don't like it, don't look at it. That's the solution I take for things in the media I don't care for. And then you won't feel compelled to make unflattering comments or quote them.
Meanwhile, two people posting before you had a different opinion.
If the goal is to discourage the person who started this thread and the other person who contributed to it, then it's a success. My participation has ended.

I think these are amazing! Sure, we know they're colorized, and I am thankful that these are so natural looking to my eyes. I'd like to see some color work done to the last season episodes, when MTM looked her best!
Loopie63 06-12-2008, 02:18 PM Those are wonderful. Thanks
LauraNamesake 06-13-2008, 07:30 PM I agree. People who don't like the posts, don't come in here! Simple solution.
To the people who have been posting the colorized pictures:
Don't get discouraged by anyone! You do fantastic work with colorizing the old shows!! Keep it up!
