the movie BEN-HUR with Charleton Heston when she tells Ricky the last time he took her to a movie was as she stated, "I can't remember the title, but there was a guy named Ben who won a chariot race." Obviously referencing Ben-hur, however I only realized yesterday it was not the Charleton Heston version but the silent version starring Ramon Navarro. I was watching Ben-hur yesterday and noticed the year it was made was 1959, I soon realized that couldn't be the movie Lucy referenced since this episode was filmed in 1952. Learn something new everyday.

Ben-Hur with Heston was released in 1959, seven years after the handcuff episode. There has been a silent version in 1925.

I know. That is what I said above. But I never paid attention to the year that the second Ben-hur was made. I always assumed Lucy was referring to the Charleton Heston version. I realize now she meant the silent version.

BTW, Ramon Navarro starred in the silent version and that actor was referenced again in the episode HEDDA HOPPER. Lucy's mother references him by name, although she pronounces it differently. It is the scene right before Lucy states that Ricky is being billed as the next Valentino.
