View Full Version : Worst pricing games on Price is Right
wiseguy182 01-26-2008, 05:46 AM i think Plinko is the worst game. it boggles my mind that its the most popular. Do these people that love plinko realize it's never been won, ever. in order for the game to officially be considered won, you have to win all 5 chips, and get them in the $5,000 slot (or nowadays $10,000 slot). nobody does that, or even comes close for that matter. Many occasions I will see people win all 5 chips, and only walk away with $1,000. what a gyp. the chips get stuck half the time to boot. horrid game.
howierules86 01-26-2008, 08:45 AM My least favorite game is That's Too Much. Hardly anyone ever wins this game, and the fact that you have to scream "That's Too Much!" to lock in your decision does nothing but annoy me.
mriggles 02-02-2008, 05:27 PM I hate lucky seven, although when i get the chance to visit the show & am watching from backstage, it is very fun to see the crew push the car out onto the stage.

spoken like a true price historian :)
I was at the show (1st show of season 30) when the record was set 23,000...that stood until this season when it was surpassed. I doubt if that game will ever be " won "
Ireneparalegal 02-02-2008, 05:42 PM I hate the boring games like "pick a price" where basically you just choose the correct price of two prices given. Oh wow.
As for prizes, I hate anything that normally no one would go out and buy, even if they had the money, like those recreation vehicles like jet skis or waterbikes. They should give away computers, laptops, X-box games, trips to Hawaii, big screen televisions, etc.
Mikado 02-02-2008, 07:20 PM I hate the one with the car horn.....everytime they make a price change, everything stops so they can blow that stupid horn

that would be the game one away
Ireneparalegal 02-02-2008, 07:46 PM The Phone Home Game...now tell me that was a bad idea.

Unless your name happens to be ET
snl 70s show fan 02-02-2008, 09:54 PM ive always thought squzze play was boring

Yes, snl 70's show fan, I agree abt Squeeze play...boring.
friendsfan77 02-03-2008, 12:30 AM I agree about That's Too Much!. It's more like That's Too Hard!.
wiseguy182 02-03-2008, 12:50 AM The Phone Home Game...now tell me that was a bad idea.
I liked the Phone Home Game, it gave people that couldn't go down to L.A. a chance to play. Perhaps someone that wasn't physically able to travel there, or someone that doesn't like the high crime of Los Angeles, can't say as I blame them.

Well now, that is taking things a bit too far. Crime is everywhere.
Being from So. California and visiting Los Angeles quite often, I have never had a bad experience in L.A. other than traffic.
Ireneparalegal 02-03-2008, 04:50 PM I don't think it's taking things too far. I personally don't have a deep desire to visit L.A. for that reason. Additionally, while crime is everywhere, it's more present in LA than most other places in the country.
This is not a thread abt Los Angeles crime or any other crime. You can go ahead and make a thread on that and see how well that goes with anyone else here.
As for TPIR it is filmed on Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles, a very beautiful part. I am sure MrIggles can go into detail with that if he so desires. All major cities have crime. If you think L.A. is the worst, than you are not one who has their information correct. It is opinion, not fact what you say.
Give me the beautiful ocean, the beaches, the walks in the mountains or all the nice things we can do right now in the winter, than you can in Michigan. Our winters are more like your summers. ;)
You asked what the worst pricing games were, when I give my opinion, you come off with something else. Either you want people to post their opinions on the worst pricing games or you don't. Isn't that what this thread is for? If it is for something else, than I won't bother.
Ireneparalegal 02-03-2008, 09:45 PM Earthquakes are nothing. You seem to take it to an extreme with what you read or hear. The worst we had was the Northridge quake. Believe me, I'd rather have earthquakes than tornados, hurricanes and any other natural disaster. We have earthquakes so much, they are so mild, we either roll our eyes at them or we don't feel them. You hear abt ONE BIG quake, what, every 30 years here in California and you make it out to be like other natural disasters that occur yearly elsewhere. Too many movies and other stuff that feed that paranoia. I live in the perfect spot. No large buildings to fall on us, no tornados, no hurricanes, no mudslides, no avalanches, no snow freezes, just great weather and fires, but that happens in the hills and mountains, mostly around Malibu which is nearby, but thankfully, here by the beach, we are safe. ;)
Off topic, either change the title thread or don't expect anymore posts here. ;)
Ok, the next game I hate on the TPIR is that poker card game.
wiseguy182 02-03-2008, 11:20 PM I will agree with you about Poker Game, that is a really stupid game. It's basically asking the contestant how much they think the car sells for, which they could save time by asking it right upfront, instead of going through the long, drawn out process of picking cards. And I never understood the people that would pick wild cards and not use them right away.
if anyone wants to see a full list of games, including retired ones, it's on wikipedia.

Yeah, exactly. Poker game is just a different way of asking HOW MUCH IS IT? I like games that are fun (a la Golf Game) or have some suspense like Golden Road where something as simple as picking a number can lead you to a huge prize.

thanks.
I think the main reason people love Plinko is that it's one of the few games that only gives away cash, it's not that they like Plinko in and of itself. That's my guess.

I think you're thinking of 'Card Game' where the contestant draws cards towards the price of the car. The opening bid is $12,000, aces are wild, face cards and 10's are $1,000. The range cards can be anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000.
Poker Game is played for four prizes and it hasn't been played yet this season. The player makes their hand from two prizes and the house makes the other hand from the remaining two prizes.
I actually like 'Punch-a-Bunch' better than 'Plinko', it's not played as often.

The punch game is another fave of mine.

oh yes, you are correct. I got the games mixed up.
I agree, Punch-a-Bunch is better than plinko IMO
wiseguy182 02-05-2008, 02:49 AM there are some games that you can play perfectly and still lose: Joker, Secret X, and 1/2 off. I don't think they're bad games, but they do need to be retooled.
interstingly, i just saw a huge secret x goof from 1983. For those that are unfamiliar with the game, you have to get three in a row just like tic tac toe, but you have to get them in either rows or diagonally, you can't do it columns. The contestant placed 2 x's in one column, Bob and the audience let out a collective moan. she failed to get the third x, which of course resulted in a loss. whoops.
Ireneparalegal 02-05-2008, 06:47 PM I love the Swiss Climber game.
wiseguy182 02-05-2008, 07:11 PM yeah, cliffhangers is my favorite game, someone put up a picture of that game at work, oddly enough. although Janice didn't like that game: her first husband disappeared in the mountains. :(
mriggles, can you be seen on screen in any episodes? while most of the eps i have are older, i just got one from 2003 with a Rod Roddy tribute at the beginning?
Ireneparalegal 02-05-2008, 07:14 PM That is so weird abt her husband. I remember reading many articles abt all this government stuff and he was involved in espionage and so forth. Just really weird.
friendsfan77 02-06-2008, 01:23 AM Original Bullseye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullseye_%28retired_pricing_game%29). I was glad to see this got retired.

I had seen that game listed on another site, but there was no picture of it. Thanx for the link that shows an actual picture. Now I remember it.
psychoticstate 04-17-2009, 04:20 PM I really didn't like "Most Expensive" (where you choose the most expensive prize out of 3). Boring, boring, boring. Boring to watch and probably boring for the contestant to play.
I always loved "Safe Crackers", "Hole in One", "Grocery Game" (I'm a geek) and "Shower Game".
Mr. Morrison86 04-20-2009, 11:51 PM worst game for me is really that's too much and Line em up. But I loved Plinko but not as much I loved Punch-a-bunch,and the Grand Game. Bonus Game I used to hate because I was scared of that turntable, now I love it,thanks to new director. my favorite pricing game of all time is Golden Road.
