last night my iPod screwed up and froze up (when I was skipping a few songs on a shuffle) and no matter what I tried, I couldn't fix the damn thing. So this morning I took it to the Geek Squad and the guy there fixed it within a minute free of charge. Nice to see people who know their ****, you go to places like Target and the sort and the electronics counter people generally know as much as you do.

He probably did the "Menu" and "center" hold technique. You should try that next time.

The Apple Store is a great place for things like that. If you have Apple products, their genius bar is well, genius!

:p I work at Target. The electronics employees there are smart, thankyouverymuch.

I didn't have any luck with the Geek Squad at the Best Buy in Apple Valley, MN, when I took my computer to them last summer. The guy who set up my modem told me it would be like $25 to upgrade the memory, and the GS guy at the counter told me $125.

Most Best Buy-related stories aren't great. You must have been lucky. :p

I used to work at Target a number of years ago and they would stick me or any other male at the electronics counter without showing us videos about cameras, DVD players, stereos, etc... so you know what's what. They would stick me at the counter and I'd have to help customers on cameras who knew more about the damn things than I did, because Target sucks at training their employees in the electronics field

I bought my last computer at Best Buy. The geek squads wouldn't even look at it, unless I forked over $250, and that was after I spend $200 on on a special tech plan, when I bought the computer.

I took my old laptop to some Geek Squad people in Oklahoma City and the guy took like a frickin hour and 2 or 3 wireless cards only to find out that basically my computer was junk, and they did it all free! I was surprised.

Now the floor associates are a whole other ballgame...
