View Full Version : Is anyone else watching the 2nd Season DVDs?
catlover79 01-25-2008, 12:28 AM If so, what do you think?? I'm totally enjoying it. I had seen all the second season eps before, but half were edited and recorded off TV Land, and the picture was fuzzy. So it's great to have a sharper image, all the episodes in their entirety, and of course, my man Gregory Sierra. :eyes:  Does anyone have any fave eps so far??
Mikado 01-25-2008, 12:34 AM nope, but, bring it on up here Cat, I love that show! ;)
catlover79 01-25-2008, 12:35 AM I know Ann and Sara preordered the show from Amazon just like I did - I'd love to hear their thoughts as well. :D
I'm waiting for mine to get here, I should have checked the speedy delivery selection. Anyway, it's suppose to be in route, so I'll get back to you when I get it.
catlover79 01-25-2008, 05:07 PM ^ Awesome!
^Have you picked a favorite episode yet?
Lolac 01-25-2008, 10:32 PM I'm loving this season 2 set!! These episodes are classics! I've been laughing right out loud. Even my 14 year old son is getting into it! It's nice to see a new generation appreciate a true classic!

catlover79 01-26-2008, 02:28 AM ^Have you picked a favorite episode yet?
I like them all, but if I had to pick favorites I'd choose Discovery, Arsonist, Protection, Grand Hotel, Rain and Fish. They're all a lot of fun. Glad to hear your son likes them too, Lolac. You've trained him well. :D
catlover79 01-29-2008, 12:18 AM I finished the set - and it's a laugh riot. It's just sad it was Gregory Sierra's last season on the show. :(
Eric Paddon 01-29-2008, 02:59 AM I devoured the entire set in just five days. A lot of shows I can take forever to go through but "Barney Miller" is a show that exudes that salted nut addiction quality, where you just want to keep going and going.
My favorite moment is when Chano, in order to make a drug bust, tells Barney he needs to go to the men's room in the 86th street subway. Fish immediately shouts at him, "PICKY, PICKY!"
catlover79 01-29-2008, 02:37 PM ^ Yeah, that was a funny moment.
OH Nuts! 01-31-2008, 11:23 PM If so, what do you think?? I'm totally enjoying it. Hi ya Cat! As soon as the 2nd Season comes to J & R or Target I'm jumpin' on it!
I've only watched 4 episodes so far, out of those 4, I like Ambush the best.
I finished the dvd today, now I'm ready for season 3. (lol!)
My favorites off the season 2 dvd:
Heatwave
Grand Hotel
Block Party
Massage Parlor
Hot Dogs
You Dirty Rat
Discovery
Horse Theif
OH Nuts! 02-13-2008, 10:42 PM Just got mine yesterday at Barnes & Noble. I had a gift card leftover from Xmas. I've been busy but I can hardly wait to open it.
I love the show!!!!
Lolac 02-13-2008, 11:46 PM I've watched both seasons 1 and 2 twice since season 2 came out. I actually contacted Sony Home Entertainment via e-mail and asked when season 3 would be coming out. I told them I hoped we wouldn't have to wait another 4 years! The response I received said no date has been announced yet. Sigh. I just hope it will be this year!
Lolac

Just saw 2 this morning. #8 where Fish is declared dead by a malcontent Computer and Marty's friend is shaken down. & #9 where a feisty rat makes off w 2 bags of grass.
Can hardly wait to devour the other 20 eps of Season 2!!! Hope more seasons come out soon!
^ Its really good, isn't it? Wish season 3 would come out soon!

Yeah, I thought Fish looked cute in a matronly type of way.
catlover79 04-03-2008, 11:25 PM I just got one of my co-workers hooked on Barney Miller. He's in his 20s and had never seen it before. I loaned him the first season and he loved it. Once I got it back, I loaned him the second season, and he's just started it. His favorite character is Fish. These DVDs really are hooking new fans! :D
^ That sounds good, maybe with more people watching them, the companies will speed up & bring out the rest of the seasons.

I say bring 'em on!! :D
catlover79 09-03-2008, 02:13 PM I'm currently loaning both seasons to a co-worker's 14-year-old son - he loves the show!!!!
^ I tried to get my son interested in watching it but he just didn't care too much for it. He'd rather watch the Simpsons, Family Guy & King of the Hill. He will watch Andy Griffith & All in the Family sometimes.
catlover79 09-03-2008, 09:42 PM ^ To each his own, I guess.
^ I think because I like a certain show that he will too but it doesn't always work out that way. lol!
Theda Bara 09-04-2008, 08:32 PM I still have not purchased the 2nd season DVD. I am still (waiting patiently) for the 3rd season to be released; actually, I have been clicking on tvshowsondvd.com (almost, everyday) and still no information.

Plus, "The Werewolf" is in the 3rd season!!! The only downside to Season 3, is, of course, no Chano. :crying:

But, also the plus side...you finally get the chance in seeing episodes that have not been BUTCHERED by Tv-Land!

True!
LeeBlue 09-05-2008, 10:46 PM Don't have the DVDs and haven't seen the early episodes in some time but there were a lot of funny ones -- like StakeOut and Rain.
However season three was simply hilarious!!!!

Let's hope we don't have to wait another 4 years for Season 3. This is too good a show to be treated that way.
Dr. Thong 01-10-2009, 01:08 PM I'm renting them from Netflix currently and am enjoying them a lot. Haven't seen this show in years, probably decades and it's been so long that many of these shows seem new to me.
It holds up very well -- better than many of today's current alleged comedies.

Plus the more things change, the more they stay the same. The show took place in a time where the economy was in the toilet and there was conflict in the Middle East. That makes it easier to relate to, I think.

We were also at war and we had just seen the end of an unpopular presidential administration.
Things haven't changed all that much, I guess. Sad.:(
catlover79 01-13-2009, 06:26 PM ^ Not to mention the energy crisis and crazy oil prices. Thank goodness those days are gone forever, huh??
