I was so shocked to see Jo walk in mel's diner and she pretty much was the same character she was on facts of life, same personality and voice. And the red hair little boy was david from the Three;s Company spinoff the ropers

Of course, that was her 2nd appearance. The first time she was on was the 3rd season Thanksgiving episode "Who Ordered the Hot Turkey"

What role did she play in season 3?

Dudley from Diff'rent Strokes was in that episode too.

I don't think she had a character name, she was just one of the orphans that Mel was supposed to be feeding (per an agreement with Alice because they had to work on Thanksgiving). A very young Corey Feldman was also one of the orphans, as well as Derek Wells, who Good Times fans might recognize as the hard of hearing kid that rode Florida's bus on a 2 part last-season episode (where his mother thought he was just stupid, not hard of hearing)

Probably because i was so irritated by how Alice was being edited when ION first started airing the show and just stopped watching the show

Speaking of editing, did not the ending of Alice turning 40 seem strange? The end credits (of what we could see squeezed--thanks Ion!) show additional scenes that we didn't see. Of course the opening now has Jolene uncorking the champagne bottle and we didn't get that in the actual episode.

When it aired on E! and TNN, those extra scenes on the closing credits weren't shown either. Not sure what to make of that, unless it was some unused footage (sometimes shows end up filming more than they can actually use and some stuff gets cut before airing). As to the opening sequence, there's lots of stuff that shows up on there that I don't ever remember seeing. Alice walking on her knees with the heavy tray, Tommy pulling the table cloth off the table, Tommy acting like he's poisoned after eating Mel's food. Those were on the 3rd and 4th season beginnings. They also seemed to use bloopers or alternate takes occasionally for the clips.

Jolene throwing the dishes in the opening credits is an alternate take foe sure!

A couple of the clips on the 3rd season looked like outtakes, Mel with the spilled juice and washrag on his face and Tommy riding in on the motorbike (both from "Take Him, He's Yours"), and Alice singing from "Alice by Moonlight" were different than the actual episodes. The 4th season beginning also used the latter 2 clips, but appear to be actual clips from the episode, not different takes. I think on the later ones, where they show Mel with the money spewing out of the ATM I believe is different from the episode too.

I was going to ask what ep that scene was from but I now know that scene was much like Al spilling french fries on Richie and his friends in the opening credits oof Happy Days

Do you enjoy when they use actual clips or when they fake a scene just for the opening credits?

I enjoy actual clips.
