Ah, her Mum must be so proud...

(Reuters) - A British bus company has apologized to a girl who is led around on a leash by her boyfriend and describes herself as a human pet after one of its drivers threw her off a bus.

Tasha Maltby, 19, told British newspapers she was the "pet" of her 25-year-old fiance Dani Graves.

Pictures showed her dressed in black Gothic-style clothing with silver buckles on a silver chain -- which the driver of a bus from the firm Arriva took exception to.

She told the Daily Mail newspaper Wednesday she was thrown off and told: "We don't let freaks and dogs like you on."

Arriva would not comment on specifics but said it apologized if the couple felt they had been discriminated against. It added, however, that the driver was worried about safety and the company told Maltby to take the leash off in the future.

"We have spoken to the driver who has talked about health and safety," a spokesman said. "Should she be attached to a chain and something happens on the bus, that could be dangerous. All we are saying is that she is very welcome to use the buses but not when she is on her lead."

Maltby -- who lives on state benefits and got engaged in November -- said her choice of lifestyle might seem unusual but was harmless.

"I am a pet," she told the Daily Mail. "I generally act animal-like and I lead a really easy life. I don't cook or clean and I don't go anywhere without Dani. It might seem strange but it makes us both happy. It's my culture and my choice. It isn't hurting anyone."

Aaaahhh romantic anniversary dinners spent noshing on Fancy Feast and cold water on the kitchen floor. :cat:

See - their big mistake was saying she was a "pet". Had they said she was his service dog instead and wore a red or blue vest, they would have HAD to let them ride the bus while she was on lead. ;)

Lol, I have actually seen crap like that. I also remember when i was in 6th grade, it became the fad for girls to wear pacifiers. Yes, baby pacifiers. I personally didn't wear them, it looked sooo stupid and i'm sure those girls look back on that and are so embarrassed and ashamed.. And by wear, i mean literally put them in their mouth.

Lol. They didn't know how stupid they looked. When someone asked them a question they'd be taking the pacifier out of their mouth. I wanted to beat those girls up

I remember that fad! I was too old, but thought "oh well, whatever turns your crank I guess"!

Funny story - when I was in middle school (mid-seventies), most of my friends were Italian and wore some sort of real gold chain (back then, that Italian "good luck" horn was hugely popular). I was a little envious since I didn't have any "real" jewelry like that and everything I bought at Kmart turned green on me. I, for whatever reason (don't know what I was smokin') grabbed the chain from the bathtub plug and wore it into school one day. Not only did it catch on, but one clown, even wore it with the plug still attached!

Flash forward to the mid-nineties and I find out some woman has taken the exact same idea, only had the chains plated gold or silver and made $250,000 in six months selling them on the internet. I then saw them everywhere in the accessories stores! Oh if I had only patented the idea....;)

Add the toilet brush, a couple of fishing hooks and you've got a lovely "themed" pair of earrings! ;)

I think this couple are the ones who should apologize to the bus company and to all the riders for being morons.
And to all the people of Britain who work to support idiots like her.
